We met Sheila through Inspired Movement because we became interested in both indoor and outdoor classes, which they had. The place truly lives up to its name because of how much they motivated my friend and I to pursue our fitness journey.

First off, we really like the versatile equipment available. There was always something to us if we wanted to focus on specific parts of the body on some days. Convenience was really one of the things that stands out with Inspired Movement!

Additionally, they promote a personal atmosphere. Sheila understands that some people like me focus better whenever there’s comfort and a sense of security—no one watching or judging you. It was just me, my colleague, and the trainer!

They have flexible training options available too so, of course, we had to go for the duet. We highly recommend getting that for accountability and a discount for the second person you can pull.

We also have to mention that Sheila doesn’t have a contact number available, so the best way to contact is through the website or through social media. It’s a bit frustrating, especially for those who prefer the old fashion way of inquiring.

However, to make up for it, Inspired Movement offers online coaching for those who have trouble scheduling their training because of personal reasons. Again, if it’s convenience and comfort you want, this is the place to be!

Her classes are exactly what I needed

I’ve been to quite a few fitness studios and workout classes in Zurich, and Inspired Movement with Sheila is easily one of the best. Sheila is one of the few instructors who really pays attention to form, which makes a huge difference. She brings great energy to every class, always switches things up so it never feels repetitive, and keeps it fun while still challenging. I’ve been going consistently since she opened and have seen real progress in my mobility and overall well-being. After a long day sitting at a desk, her classes are exactly what I need. With competent trainers and a good environment because of their minimalistic interior design, the Uetli Gym along Nussbaumstrasse might just be the safe haven for the fitness enthusiasts in the city.

They have a wide range of classes with 13 under Group Classes alone. However, you can also book an Open Gym wherein you’ll be doing your own routines. We do recommend booking any of their group classes first if you’re a beginner.

We love that they have modern equipment available so you’re sure to get your work in with no trouble. Plus, the trainers are perfect for setting the atmosphere too! Add those with good lighting and lots of mirrors and you just know it’s a productive place to be in.

Now, imagine all of the things we mentioned, but they don’t end there. Their clean changing rooms and showers are game-changers. Gyms are known to be unhygienic but Uetli changes the stereotype with how they maintain their place and equipment.

Although their biggest disadvantage, we’d say, is that their business hours vary for each day of the week. It might be difficult to set a schedule, especially for those with 9-to-5’s. Still, that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying our favorite part of the gym–their sauna!

Favorite new gym in town

In this spectacular underground location full of light, mirrors and new equipment I was greeted by charming and helpful staff. I immediately felt I entered a different zone, a space and time in which I am isolated from all outside factors and can fully dedicate myself to working with my body. Must be one of the architecturally most sophisticated yet very simple, nearly minimalist, gyms around. Super nice changing rooms and showers, also features a sauna. The gym offers a wide range of classes but you can also book “open gym” slots to work out by yourself. Favorite new gym in town.

As a qualified nutritional therapist, Ueli Lanz has proven himself to be one of the best personal trainers in the city. Being passionate in nutrition, he developed a strong interest in critically viewing and questioning traditional and modern nutritional concepts.

What we love about him is that he does 1:1 calls for a more personal fitness journey. Of course, not all of us are confident in sharing our goals to other people and prefer a personal mentor-mentee relationship with our respective trainers.

Ueli even has WhatsApp support, always replying when available when his clients have questions or concerns. We appreciate his sense of urgency and focus on more individualized and goal-oriented nutrition planning.

If you want to know the unique thing about this personal trainer, it’s that he offers a ketogenic diet program–something that not all trainers in the industry have! That’s how you know Ueli takes his profession seriously with a more modern take on it.

On the other hand, if you want to go traditional, you can explore his 12-week training plans that are sure to give you a challenge and fun at the same time. With workouts suited to your capabilities and even a group you can be with, it’s an experience!

Incredible team! Everyone there knows exactly what they’re doing and what I love the most is that they really care about your results and you feel like their focus is entirely on you and they tweak every small detail to make sure you reach your goals. And I love the built-in DEXA scan option, that’s super useful and couldn’t believe the discrepancies between my limbs, like different fat or muscle amounts per arm and the inteligent strategy to train one slightly more with their expert guidance to compensate and close the gap.
