Bold designs start with these 5 best home decor retailers in Zurich

  • Rental-Friendly Solutions: Since many of us are in apartments, I prioritised shops that offer pieces that don’t need nails, screws, or landlord approval.
  • Quality Over Clutter: Then, instead of praising companies for flashy displays or endless stock, I looked at how they sourced and presented their pieces. I also checked whether their fabrics could handle spills and whether their finishes resisted scratches
  • Small-Space Savviness: Since many Zurich apartments are compact, I assessed how shops curated items for tight layouts.
  • Easy to Mix and Match: I even noted which companies build their collections around versatility. The standouts let me layer jewel-toned chairs against neutral basics, black-and-white art, or colourful rugs, without the vibe ever clashing.
  • Price-to-Impact Ratio: Lastly, and most importantly, I compared how my chosen shops balanced cost and aesthetic punch. Some sold CHF 50 lamps that elevated a room just as much as another’s CHF 500 version. I gave credit to those with the “wow” factor.

Did you ever make a vision board of your dream home? Same. I still keep mine, but as an adult, I realised it wasn’t that easy. Between rent rules and small rooms, I totally had no clue where to find the best home decor in Zurich.

So, I created a cheat sheet featuring top-notch shops. I’ve rounded up my favourite retailers in the city, so you don’t have to spend hours searching.

These shops feature statement lamps that change the mood without drilling and geometric rugs that make small rooms feel spacious and well-designed. No renovation, no landlord drama.

Since it was nearer to my space, I checked out Pfister’s collection first. And honestly, it’s quite massive. From rugs and lamps to textiles and wall art, it’s easy to piece together a room without hopping from store to store.

What I liked most was how they balance modern design with that Swiss touch. They make decor look timeless, clean, but still cosy.

Their carpets are another win too. Not only do they sell beautiful rugs, but their Teppichatelier service handles deep cleaning and restoration. It feels like you can invest in one good piece and know they’ll help keep it looking fresh for years.

Even more, curtains get the same treatment. The team will actually take them down, clean them properly, and put them back up. It’s such a practical add-on for anyone who hates the chore—like me, lol.

One downside, though, is that prices can really run high, especially for designer furniture or premium rugs.

Still, their outlet deals, member discounts, and even free interior design consultations with 3D previews make it easier to justify the investment.

Pros

  • Offers a wide range of home decor
  • Balances modern design with Swiss flair
  • Provides professional carpet care
  • Has full-service curtain cleaning
  • Offers free interior design consultation
  • Gives access to various deals

Cons

  • Prices can get expensive

Services that go the extra mile

“We experienced wonderful service from Pfister both in store and delivery. The salesperson was knowledgeable and helpful. The delivery and assembly team were professional and executed the assembly neatly and cleaned up afterwards. Adding floor protectors to the furniture as part of the assembly is a much appreciated touch. Thank you!”

Quality finds right in the city

“Nice home goods and furniture store with good quality products. Prices are on the expensive side. Advantage is, that this store is in the middle of the city and you do not have to travel out into the boonies.”

If you’re looking for home decor that feels thoughtful and not cookie-cutter, Holm is worth a visit. Their focus on Scandinavian design makes the space instantly inviting. But what impressed me most is that you can build an entire mood for your home here.

They’ve streamlined everything with a 5-step design flow—starting from your vision board to concept mood boards and real material samples. Once you’re happy, they handle the ordering, delivery, and assembly.

Best of all, they also offer ongoing care and maintenance. I love the fact that they provide care advice, like how to oil wood or keep fabrics fresh.

And while their process is spot-on, what sealed it for me was the quality of what you can actually buy. They curate some of the finest Scandinavian and European brands, including Artek, Carl Hansen, and Louis Poulsen. Every piece has design credibility built in.

However, their strength is a Scandinavian design. So, if you’re looking for something eclectic or bold in another style, the selection may feel limited.

    Pros

    • Has a clear 5-step design flow
    • Provides full service from start to finish
    • Sticks around with after-care support
    • Curates top European brands

    Cons

    • Highly focused on Scandinavian design
    • Limited eclectic and bold style options

Service with solutions at every step

“Perfect service (from entering the door), professional team (kind, invisible but 101% presence when needed, no importune) , fair deals, best design. Smiling and kind delivery personel. Everyone is focused on finding the best solutions together.”

Furniture as lifestyle, not just craft

“Wow. I learned that there’s more to a piece of furniture than just craftsmanship. It’s a lifestyle, and Anna and her team gave us great advice. We’re really enjoying our new sofa. Thank you for the expert advice; it was worth every penny.”

For those expats who land in Zurich and wonder how to make a house feel like home, I found the Harrison Spirit to be a lifesaver. Yes, they are a home decor shop, but what makes them different is that they combine a boutique with a full interior design service.

What impressed me most was the friendliness of their expat service. They don’t just sell furniture; they’ll measure curtains, source hidden decor gems, and even introduce you to smaller shops you’d never know about otherwise.

On top of that, their concierge-style support is another highlight. This means they’ll deliver and assemble, plus connect you with tradespeople and share practical advice that makes setting up a home much easier.

I also love their boutique because everything feels curated with personality, making shopping feel a lot more intentional. The furniture and accessories are sourced globally, and each piece carries its story.

The only catch is that the stock in the boutique is limited, which means you won’t always find everything on hand right away. Also, some items are custom-sourced, which means delivery can take longer compared to big retailers.

      Pros

      • Offers shopping with full design services
      • Offers an expat-friendly service
      • Provides concierge-style support
      • Shares practical advice
      • Stock up on globally sourced pieces

      Cons

      • Limited boutique stock
      • Longer lead times

        Where style meets friendly service

“Good style, great and friendly service. If you need that “special something” this is the place to go.”

A store full of inspiration and team spirit

“A fantastic store, full of inspiration and a desire for more. The team is always open to spontaneous and personalized advice, and in the store itself, you can immediately get ideas for how to fulfill your dreams in your own four walls. Fantastic! Harrison’s team spirit is also very important at the various city events (e.g., the Christmas market). Fantastic!”

If you’re interested in an ever-changing collection of home decor, FROHSINN Zurich is the kind of shop that’ll keep you curious. It’s a boutique that knows how to keep things exciting with fresh finds, from bold cushions and rugs to trays and candles.

I visited with a friend, and she bought a Quail Ceramics hand-painted vase. Quirky and full of character, it quickly became the star of her dining table. Her excitement showed me how easy it is here to find something truly one-of-a-kind.

What struck me most is how carefully curated everything is. From Ginori porcelain to Skogsberg & Smart glassware, each find has its own charm. Additionally, there’s a playful side to Assouline coffee-table books—bold statement pieces that elevate a room.

Another detail I appreciate is that FROHSINN was founded by interior architect Claudia Silberschmidt, and that designer’s eye really shows. You’ll feel like walking into a styled apartment—beautiful, warm, and inspiring rather than overwhelming.

But some of their pieces definitely sell out fast. With curated stock, you might not always find the same item twice.

        Pros

        • Keeps ever-changing collections
        • Features unique, character-rich pieces
        • Curates design-forward global brands
        • Backed by a certified designer

        Cons

        • Limited and fast-selling stock

A beautifully styled collection every season

“Frohsinn has the most beautiful collection of house goods I have ever seen in such stores before. Display and products are changing wonderfully each season and it certainly has the owner’s wonderful sense of style.”

A treasure trove full of inspiration

“A treasure trove! Love this shop. Always find something fun for my home. Lovely atmosphere, excellent selection.”

My personal favourite is Cote West Living. I love how their collections are designed for both indoor and outdoor living, making it easy to find pieces such as elegant sofas and patio sets that balance both luxury and comfort.

Their brand selection is also a big plus. They curate international names like Gervasoni, Living Divani, and Moroso, alongside exclusive porcelain imports from Australia. Each item has a quality that sets it apart from mass-market decor.

Another detail I appreciate is the stunning showroom itself, which enhances the overall experience. Located under Zurich’s Viadukt arches, it feels more like walking through an exhibition than browsing a normal shop.

Even better, they stand out with their project-based planning packages, adjusting their service to the scale of the space. This flexibility means you can get expert guidance, whether it’s a single room or an entire project.

However, one thing I learnt after my first visit is that you can’t just drop in casually since visits are strictly by appointment. It felt inconvenient at first since I couldn’t roam freely, but booking ahead meant the staff was fully prepared and the visit felt more personal.

          Pros

          • Offers indoor and outdoor collections
          • Curates premium international brands
          • Has a unique showroom location
          • Provides project-based planning packages

          Cons

          • By appointment-only visits

            Timeless advice and reliable style

“Wonderful advice, unique service, very reliable and friendly. I am a regular customer and will remain so. Nicole is very knowledgeable and advises on the right pre-selection. Your flair for stylish, timeless furniture is incredible. After many years I have never regretted a purchase. Nicole, you are the best!”

A touch of Ibiza in Zurich

“Great advice with full passion. A little bit of Ibiza in Zurich with great carpets from miinu 🖤”
