Taste the world with the top 10 street food spots in Zurich
There’s nothing better than a cheap meal, especially one that actually tastes good. Fast food might fill you up, but street food offers so much more.
What I love is how easy it is to grab and go. In Zurich, you can wander the streets and taste flavours from all over the world. No tables or reservations needed.
After years of exploring, I’ve found some of Zurich’s best street food spots. So if you’re wondering where to start or just want to try something new, come with me on a global food tour through the city.

Sternen Grill is a popular spot that serves some of the cheapest Swiss classics without skimping on taste. It was only recently that I discovered their takeaway spots located in Bellevue and Zurich Airport.
As a sausage lover myself, I’ve always found their food to be convenient. Unlike other places that serve Swiss classics, they offer some great vegetarian and vegan options of classic dishes, such as Alpine Magrones and Chässpätzli.
My favourite item on the menu is the St. Galler Bratwurst with Zwiebelsauce. The nicely toasted sausage pairs beautifully with the onion sauce. I also buy a side of Pommes frites and Gurkensalat with dill and sour cream.
Pro Tip: If you want less wait time, show up early afternoon or just when they open for take-away. Being right in the Bellevue area means it gets busy.

Im Viadukt is a great bustling market with loads of options to choose from when it comes to food. While it’s not the cheapest food market in Zurich, the amount and quality of food I can get are extremely worth it.
There are twelve different food stalls at Im Viadukt, and all of them are great. My personal favourite is Beyond when I want a nice cup of warm coffee or a snack. I also like Restaurant Markthalle, which has great informal outdoor and indoor seating.
I tend to go here for lunch, and I usually order their Tagessuppe and Marktsalat, which have large servings that are good for sharing. The soup changes daily, so it’s a fun surprise each time.
Pro Tip: Start at the Market Hall for fresh local food (cheeses, artisan breads, and pastries). It’s great for a snack or even picking up something to bring home.

The Grill Cave offers Kosher meals. While they aren’t open daily, they sell out really fast during the days that they are. Aside from that, they also offer frozen versions of their meals if you want to have them at home.
Their main dishes are burgers. They use locally sourced beef and load it with all of the classic toppings, like tomatoes and lettuce. My personal favourite has to be the juicy and tender pulled beef burger that comes with a side of fries.
They also serve Israeli classics like shawarma and the classic Jewish stew Tschulent. If you’re not into bread, try their salads. These are made with the same burger ingredients and come in bigger portions.
Pro Tip: For those who love their meals and want to introduce them to family and friends, The Grill Cave has recently started a catering business. They can serve all their great meals, and also some vegan options that are just as good.

I didn’t think I could have the Vietnamese outdoor dining experience in Zurich, but mi-te surprised me with this unique offer. All of these can be eaten in their outside seating. Yes, they try to mimic Vietnam’s outdoor dining with small plastic chairs and tables.
They offer a customisable classic banh mi with great meat and vegan meat options. Of course, we can’t forget the classic pho and bun bo hue (traditional beef and pork noodle dishes).
If a sandwich isn’t to your fancy, they have other options like bun bowls. For dessert, you can enjoy some mango sticky rice or sweet potato-coco.
All of the meals are dirt cheap.
Pro Tip: If you don’t want to wait, they offer a pre-order option for any of their meals that you can pick up at any time. Aside from this, they also have No Waste Fridays, which reduces the price of their meals to ensure no food goes to the trash.

Mundo Del Gusto was founded by Mauro Mantovani, a passionate restaurateur who loves regional ingredients. Using fresh Swiss beef and produce from local farms, you can be sure the meals here are high-quality.
Their menu consists of fusion dishes, most of which I found to be quite interesting. I personally love their Swiss Black Angus Burger. The smokiness of the beef complements the fresh lettuce and the tangy red cabbage salad that it comes with.
I’m also quite a fan of their karaage. There’s also the super tender and crispy Taiwanese fried chicken burger with sriracha and Thai basil.
Pro Tip: This is one of the few food trucks in the city with an extensive vegan option. They have plant-based burgers and ones made out of jackfruit. You can also get a side of their Chipotle sauce because it’s homemade and 100% vegan.

No, this isn’t your actual neighbour’s food. The Neighbour’s Food is a dedicated food truck for vegans and vegetarians. All of their meals are unique twists on classic Swiss UrDinkel.
They specialise in flatbreads topped with a variety of sauces and vegetables, all sourced locally. I can’t emphasise how good these are, especially when some of my non-vegan friends attend the events that The Neighbour’s Food is at!
My personal favourite is the homemade hagedammen. It’s an UrDinkel flatbread that’s topped with almond ricotta, carrot salmon, and arugula. The carrots are great and taste similarly to salmon, while the arugula and almond ricotta add a nice sweetness.
Pro Tip: The Neighbour’s Food isn’t always active, so check their Facebook, Instagram, or website to see when they’re on the streets. They’re also popular during events, food markets, and concerts.

BRIDGE is a casual venue that showcases local businesses, aiming to celebrate local cuisine and highlight the diverse nature of Zurich. They have eleven different food stalls inside that serve a variety of different cuisines, ranging from Chinese to Mexican.
My personal favourite when heading here is Happy Panda. Serving a great selection of different dim sums and dumplings, all of which are handmade. I also like to order their bao buns, especially the pork ones.
Whenever I want a nice bit of green in my day, I often find myself ordering some of the juices at Fruits and Juices. My go-to order is the Jolly Green. It’s made with pineapple, banana, and organic spirulina.
Pro Tip: The best time to head to BRIDGE is whenever there’s an event. Local DJs and musical artists often perform at the venue, and most of the time these events are free. For paid ones, they’re usually cheap compared to other venues.

Never in my life did I think I’d be able to taste ox, so I was pleasantly surprised to stumble upon Rhystorante. Their unique offering is their ox-beef burgers that come in a variety of flavours. These burgers also have vegetarian versions that are just as good.
On weekdays, you can sometimes find them serving their burgers during lunchtime. However, on the weekends, they’ll be located in some of the most popular festivals in the whole of Switzerland, like Landvogtei-Markt Grüningen and Herbstmesse Schaffhausen.
Of course, I always go for the ox-beef burger. It comes with melted gruyère cheese and a nice serving of herb mousse that’s paired with a nice heap of carrot salad. I also add a side of chips to them.
Pro Tip: If you’re not a fan of beef, go for the halloumi burgers. They have almost the same topping and have a nice creaminess to it. These also come with a burrata version.
9. K-Street Toast

K-Street introduces the world-renowned Korean egg sandwiches to Zurich. But they don’t stop there, since they also serve some great and classic American sandwiches with a bombastic Korean twist. Honestly, this one’s my favourite.
I love that they constantly update their menu to include more Korean classics. Particularly, I highly rate the addition of Japanese milk toast to the sandwiches. It adds a nice sweetness that just isn’t there with normal toast, though it can be a bit expensive.
My favourite thing to order here is the crispy chicken eggslut. Yes, it’s rude, but they have the crispiest chicken sandwich in Zurich. The Japanese milk toast works perfectly with the crispy and salty chicken, and they both complement the rich and creamy eggs.
Pro Tip: If you want to try some of their unique creations before they hit their official menus, head to some of the events that they join. They often test-launch unique products, such as their matcha and vanilla cookies.
10. Chegrill

- Saturday to Sunday: 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Pricing: ₣
Chegrill is where I go when I need a great steak sandwich. Despite their high-quality steaks, they still serve some of the largest portions in Zurich without being exorbitantly expensive. I was also impressed that they have vegan burgers that taste just as good.
Aside from their sandwiches, they also offer great salads. My personal favourite among them has to be the tomatoes and mozzarella salad, which is drenched in this sweet and tangy homemade balsamic dressing.
When you’re feeling extremely hungry, order the sausage plate. It comes with loads of different sausages, and you can choose whether you want poultry or pork. There’s also Apero available when you’re not feeling too hungry but still want a snack.
Pro Tip: If you’re having trouble finding Chegrill, you can call them beforehand because they tend not to stay in the same spot for a while. The only exception to this is when they’re at the FCZ match, where they stay for the entire event.
