We extensively test and research all services we review. Here's why you can trust us.

We found our new fitness obsession, thanks to these 5 best pilates studios in Zurich

Class variety: We checked whether the Pilates studio offers beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes. We also included those that have mat Pilates and reformer sessions.

Cleanliness: We checked if the studio cleans its equipment and mats in between sessions.

Booking: We assessed how easy it was to book classes. Plus points for those with lenient cancellation policies, allowing you to conveniently reschedule your classes.

Accessibility: We considered Pilates studios that are easily accessible by public transport. We also assessed how safe the neighbourhood is, especially for those who wish to walk there.

Pilates is one of those workouts that looks calm and graceful, yet somehow leaves your core shaking after just one class (you’re not alone, we’ve been there!). Between the hype and the reformers, it’s easy to wonder if it’s actually for you.

Luckily, we have the best Pilates studios in Zurich where we can finally test it out without the fear of choosing the wrong place.

So if you’ve been thinking about trying Pilates but needed a little push, this is it. We’ve rounded up the studios that made us finally understand the hype.

How much does a Pilates session cost in Zurich?

In Zurich, a Pilates session typically costs around CHF 22.50 per class. Meanwhile, single private Pilates sessions may start at CHF 160, while five-session packages start at CHF 215.

We first heard about ILU Move while looking for a studio that could cater to all fitness levels and ages.

Here, you can try several reformer classes, and we love having options. There’s the ILU Classic, perfect if you want a balanced mix of mobility and strength. The ILU Blast, which is more athletic and comes with energetic background music.

Since we wanted an extra cardio boost and a heart-pumping session, we tried the ILU Jump. Just a heads up, though: this one is only available on Wednesdays and isn’t for beginners or pregnant clients.

And yes, for expecting or even new moms out there, you’ll love that this Pilates studio also offers both pre- and post-natal classes.

We also appreciate that this studio keeps its class sizes small. They keep classes to about 5 people to ensure that beginners or even those with physical issues get the attention they need. But if group classes feel intimidating, you can also take advantage of their duet and private sessions.

The studio is also located near the public transport and has ample parking for those who wish to bring their car.

However, keep in mind that their slots fill up fast. We learned that we need to book at least a week in advance to secure a class.

Pros

  • Classes open to all ages and fitness levels
  • Caters to a small class size
  • Multiple class types
  • Pre- and post-natal Pilates classes are available
  • Ample parking onsite

Cons

  • A bit on the pricey side
  • Need to be booked at least a week in advance

Gives special attention to beginners and people with physical concerns

“The best and most professional pilates studio in Zurich! I attend Pascale’s or Paulina’s classes weekly, but have visited with most other teachers as well and everyone teaches at a very high level. Classes at ilu move are always focused on precision while still delivering a proper work out. Beginners and people with physical issues always get special attention and especially Pascale is very mindful and knowledgeable. I also value how the teachers never comment on physical attributes and keep their encouragements focused on strength and form. I have felt very welcome here from the beginning and have profited a lot over the years from my practice at this studio :)”

Since Pilates Zurich offers a wide variety of Pilates styles, we decided to check it out. Here, you can try both reformer and mat Pilates with an added aerial yoga and TRX suspension classes on the side.

For mat pilates, you don’t even need to bring your own mat because the studio provides everything. But we still recommend bringing a yoga mat towel for added hygiene.

Meanwhile, moms and expecting moms are also covered with pre- and post-natal classes.

One of the things that we love about Pilates Zurich is that they offer a trial pass. For just CHF 69, you can already get three Pilates group class entries.

It’s also great that this studio is lenient with cancellations. We got sick for a week, and we were glad they rebooked us without extra fees. It’s worth noting, however, that this studio is only open on weekdays.

Beyond classes, you’ll love that this Pilates studio also hosts events. We even got lucky to have attended their Jubilee Day. It featured a presentation by Ken Endelman, the Pilates pioneer and founder of Balanced Body.

Pros

  • Offers aerial yoga and TRX suspension classes
  • Offers a trial pass for group classes
  • Lenient cancellation policy
  • Hosts special events

Cons

  • Not open on weekends
  • No trial passes for private classes

Great pacing

“I really enjoy the postnatal rücksbildungsyoga mit baby class taught by Gisela. It allows me to recover/re-strengthen my body while having my baby right beside me. The class is full of other moms with babies so I really feel comfortable as we’re all going through the same thing and everyone is understanding. Our instructor Gisela is very nice, flexible, and leads the class well i.e. great instructions, good pace, etc. Definitely would recommend!”

Clean and bright studio

“During my short stay in Zurich, I took part in two classes: Reformer and Mat. Both classes were fantastically structured, challenging, and at a very high level – but without being overwhelming. Both Christina and Marco are very personable and provide competent support during the exercises. The atmosphere is very pleasant, and I felt welcome. The studio itself is very nice, clean, and bright. I was able to reach it easily by S-Bahn, but I also saw several parking spaces nearby. I highly recommend it! I’ll definitely come back when I’m in Zurich again.”

If you’re looking for a studio that combines Pilates, barre, and yoga, then Trunk Pilates could be your wonderland. Upon walking in, you’ll immediately appreciate the modern studio that lets in natural light.

One thing to keep in mind is that this studio tends to be on the pricier side. But if you wish to save a bit, we recommend you try their ten-session packages: barre, yoga, and mat pilates for CHF 330, and the reformer for CHF 395.

These packages have a six-month validity. If your schedule is quite busy, you might find this offer a bit restrictive.

Meanwhile, for those who plan to go regularly, you’ll love that they offer unlimited memberships to help you save even more. On top of that, you’ll also love that Trunk offers flexible gift cards starting at CHF 50. You can even set a value, which is a quick and easy gift idea for your friends.

What we love about this studio is that we can just drop in anytime. You really don’t need to stress about booking ahead, as there’s almost always a slot available for you, even on weekends.

The best part is that this studio is near cafes and restaurants, making it perfect for a post-workout treat.

  • Welcomes last-minute bookings or walk-ins
  • Unlimited memberships or session packages
  • Provides gift cards
  • Located near cafes and restaurants

Cons

  • Premium rates
  • Not ideal for beginners

Comfortable studio

“An excellent studio! I’ve been attending classes for a month and a half and can already see real results. I especially recommend Rima’s reformer burn classes, they’re challenging and really effective. The location is great, and the studio has a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!”

Friendly instructors

“I moved to Zurich in February and trialled a number of Reformer Pilates studios and must say, Trunk is the best by far (and possibly better than my London studio!). Challenging in all the right ways, very welcoming, great location and super helpful and friendly instructors. So good that I bought the unlimited membership pack with no regrets! Highly recommend. For those who prefer the flexibility to practice at home, you’ll love that Pilates Stube has virtual and on-demand video classes.

We would always sign up for their virtual Pilates class whenever we’re travelling. We love that we can still request a specific instructor, which is perfect for familiarity and continuity.

But if you prefer the studio experience, you’ll love that they offer private, duet, and group classes on both the mat and the reformer, too.

Here, they are more focused on teaching you the good form. During our second session, Agata, one of their good trainers, would always make sure you master the fundamental movements with proper form first before moving on to more advanced sessions.

And if it’s your first time on a reformer, no need to worry as she’ll walk you through the machine to ensure you feel confident (and you know how to use it) before you start your session.

Beyond regular Pilates classes, we also love that this studio hosts retreats in the mountains, where you can practice mat Pilates and other mindful exercises. Just keep in mind that you need to register in advance, as slots are limited.

Pros

  • Has online or video course training
  • Wide range of onsite class formats
  • Small group sizes
  • Provides structured instruction
  • Hosts retreats

Cons

  • Retreats have limited slots
  • Limited weekend availability

Small group classes

“It was my first time trying Reformer Pilates, and I absolutely loved it! Agata is a fantastic trainer—she ensures you master the fundamental movements with proper form, setting you up for success in more advanced sessions. The small group setting creates a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere, making the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend the BASIC reformer class to anyone who’s curious about Reformer but unsure where to start!”

Anna, Google Review

Ideal for beginners

“It was my first reformer Pilates class and I really enjoyed it. The instructor, Patricia, was very helpful in showing me how to use the machine and adjusting my body throughout the class. I definitely recommend trying a class here.”
