5 Best Swimming Lesson Providers in Zurich That’ll Help You Stay Afloat and More
Swimming is one of those skills you don’t really think about until you need it. One day, as I was taking a stroll along Lake Zurich, I saw a bunch of teenagers playing in the water.
I got somewhat jealous and realised how much I’m missing out. I had a passing thought that this might be too late for me to learn how to swim, but whatever, I decided to just give it a try. So I looked into some programmes around the area.
Admittedly, it was harder than expected to find a place to fit my needs. After researching, a few names consistently stood out.
If you’re also looking to maybe get back into the pool yourself, here’s my curated list of the top swimming lesson providers in Zurich.
How much do swimming lessons cost in Zurich?
Group swimming lessons typically range from CHF 25 to CHF 40 per lesson when booked as a semester block. Private 1-on-1 lessons are significantly more expensive, averaging CHF 90 to CHF 120 for a 45-minute session.
1. Schwimmschule Zürich GmbH im Seefeld SSA Riesbach

Address: Seefeldstrasse 93, 8008
Contact details: +41 79 512 67 31
Business hours:
- Daily: 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM
If you’re looking for a place where learning to swim actually feels like an adventure rather than a chore, Schwimmschule might just be your answer.
Tucked underneath the GZ Riesbach community centre, the school offers a wide range of courses from toddler water familiarisation starting at age 2, to more general adult lessons.
Courses follow the official swimming curriculum designed by Swimsports Switzerland (Grundlagentests 1-7), so there’s a clear progression structure for the students.
And I loved that they even have a Mermaid Swimming programme for those who’ve always dreamed of life under the sea!
What clients especially like is the fact that the pool maintains a comfortable water temperature of around 30°C. This makes a real difference in comfort, especially for younger swimmers who might otherwise feel hesitant in cold water.
Clients even describe the instructors as patient and attentive, and their children genuinely look forward to each session.
One thing worth knowing, though, is that popular time slots tend to fill up quickly, especially since the school operates a waitlist system.
Gradually teach your kids how to swim in the most fun and relaxed way
“I am highly satisfied with the method of this school and its treatment. They hold a top level and are the most authorized teachers in the field, which will gradually teach your kids how to swim in the most fun and relaxed way. My son has already accomplished a few courses, and soon his little brother will join.”
- Arthur Shapiro, Google Review
The instructors are fantastic and do a great job with kids
“We are thrilled with the Schwimmschule Zürich. Our son has learned to swim extremely well there and looks forward to his lesson every Sunday. The instructors are fantastic and do a great job with the kids – especially Julia. We will continue going there and are excited for when our son has all his badges and can swim perfectly… thank you to the whole empathetic team for being in the water every Sunday…”

2. swimli – Swimming Club Zurich

Address: Luegislandstrasse 173, 8051
Email Address: [email protected]
Business hours:
- Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday: 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Swimli positions itself as Zurich’s go-to English-language swimming school for adults. It’s definitely no surprise, given their founder, Coach Ash, is an instructor with experience across Ireland, the US, Canada, and Australia!
They have different programmes tailored to different skill levels, from private one-on-one sessions and the beginner-friendly Swimli Squad, to more structured Swimli Training for competitive goals.
Unfortunately, they currently don’t have courses designed for children, though their Baby & Toddler lesson for parents who want to bond with their little ones in the water was something I found really cute.
On the other hand, clients seem to like the welcoming and judgment-free atmosphere. They especially mention how Ash keeps a close eye on progress while making sure everyone feels at ease.
The booking process is also very straightforward. You don’t need to decode swim jargon to understand which programme suits you; it’s all in the descriptions.
But as a one-coach operation, availability can be limited, so I suggest booking early.
Lessons were well-structured, encouraging, and fun
“I recently completed a 5-week group swimming lesson with Swimli, and I couldn’t recommend it more! From the very first session Ash created such a welcoming and comforting environment that really helped ease any nerves. Each week built nicely on the last, and I could genuinely see my confidence and technique improving. The lessons were well-structured, encouraging, and fun, with plenty of personal feedback even in a group setting. If you’re looking to learn to swim or just want to feel more confident in the water, Swimli is a fantastic choice.”

Excellent swimming courses taught in english
“Thanks a mil to Ash as the course was brilliant! Definitely felt myself improving with each lesson as we always tried to tackle something different. I feel so much more confident in deeper water! It was great that the group lesson was modified to my level as I wasn’t the most confident in water and I could also watch the stronger swimmers to learn from them. Would definitely recommend booking the course as excellent swimming courses taught in English are like stardust in Zürich😁”

3. Schwimm Coach I Einzellektionen & Schwimm Training Zürich

Address: Gutstrasse 162, 8055
Contact details: +41 78 646 88 87
Business hours:
- Monday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
If you’ve watched your swim split and thought “there has to be a better way,” Einzellektionen & Schwimm Training is exactly what you need.
Run by Mario Schierok, a Vice-European champion in his age group, this facility is highly specialised and focused entirely on crawl technique for swimmers and triathletes.
What left a lasting impression on me is their technology. Sessions take place in a dedicated swim channel at the Sportster24 facility, where Mario uses a three-camera analysis system to break down every aspect of your stroke in real time.
Swimmers seem to love it, too. They consistently describe seeing their technique on camera for the first time as eye-opening, also highlighting how Mario keeps feedback immediately actionable.
This is pretty serious technical coaching, though, not a learn-to-swim school. Their service is best suited for those who already know the basics and want to get faster and more efficient. Beginners may want to look elsewhere first.
The technique analysis was extremely helpful and fun
“Mario can spot the difficulties at a glance. During the video analysis, we go through the movement sequences together and receive the corresponding exercises. The technique analysis was extremely helpful and also fun! I can highly recommend the training sessions to everyone.”
- Nina Kollegger, Google Review
I am finally going to the foundations and realise what should be done differently
“Mario is an excellent swim coach that I strongly recommend. I am a rather bad swimmer – did not properly learn when young – who suffers every stroke in every training session and triathlon race … My progress over the years has been slow and painful, with many relapses to bad swim style. With Mario, I am finally going to the foundations and realise what should be done differently (plus discovering new muscles, something that is obviously linked). If you want an inflexion in your swim performance … I can only recommend some sessions with him.”

4. Get Wet Kinderschwimmkurse

Address: Luegislandstrasse 173, 8051
Contact details: +41 79 479 37 48
Business hours:
- Monday to Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Get Wet is another swim school dedicated to teaching children around age 4 onwards. It is led by Jeannette Furler, a passionate instructor with a background in sports, education, and child development.
Classes follow the official Swimsports Switzerland levels, giving kids a clear, fun progression all the way up to swimming 50 metres in deep water.
I particularly appreciate how thoughtfully the programme is designed, offering specialised private lessons for children who aren’t yet ready for a group setting, including kids with sensory sensitivities, ADHD, or other additional needs.
Because of that, parents rave about Jeannette’s patience and ability to connect even with the most reluctant kids. She has a playful approach to learning that can hold the little swimmers’ attention, allowing them to improve while having fun.
However, courses fill up quickly, and group lessons are only available on Wednesdays and Saturdays, so you might want to schedule ahead.
Jeanette is really great in introducing progressively all the kids to water
“Our daughter started her first swimming course last summer and she is progressing very well. We are very happy of Get Wet and we strongly recommend these courses. Jeanette is really great in introducing progressively all the kids (even the most “shy”) to the water and its sensations and in giving them the right confidence and skills… always motivating them with a lot of fun. The Aubrücke location is also very convenient: easy to reach by bus or by car (with a parking lot just in front of the entrance) and with a straight access to the pool where you can follow directly the lesson two meters from the water allowing the kids to proudly show you their achievements!!!”
- Massimo Saverdi, Google Review
She builds trust to parents and children
“Jeanette is amazing! All the children love her and she manages to make them enjoy the learning. Her continuous tips to the parents are also really well appreciated. She builds trust to parents and xhildren.”

5. SwimLab Schwimmkanal – Schwimm Training Zürich

Address: Waldegg, Birmensdorferstrasse 26, 8142
Contact details: +41 44 590 52 24
Business hours:
- Tuesday to Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:30 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
SwimLab Schwimmkanal is about as close to a science lab as swimming gets. Coaching is run by Mario Schierok, the same coach behind Schwimm Coach.
Tucked away on the outskirts of the city, the facility is built around a state-of-the-art counter-current swim channel, equipped with three high-speed cameras and motion analysis software.
The current speed is fully adjustable, making it suitable for a wide range of skills, from beginners wanting to dial in the basics to competitive triathletes chasing a faster open-water split.
During the inquiry, I appreciate the flexibility on offer. You can book a standalone technique analysis session, opt for a subscription package of 3-7 sessions for more structured progress, or simply book a 45-minute free swim.
Clients are full of praise for Mario, describing his ability to spot and correct errors in real time as almost instant, and clearly communicating what to fix and how to do it.
The only downside is that it is more focused on technique and not a traditional lap pool. It’s not really a place for long-distance endurance sets.
Every mistake and every detail is pointed out
“The swim channel with Mario is fantastic. Every mistake and every detail is pointed out. Afterwards, Mario takes plenty of time to focus on and correct these specific areas with drills and exercises. Ultimately, it takes patience, consistency, and enjoyment, which is rewarded with great progress over time. I highly recommend it. Thanks a lot, Jürg”
- JL Box, Google Review
You get immediate feedback on what you can implement right away
“This week I had the chance to experience Mario’s coaching firsthand 🙂 The experience he brings is incredibly valuable! With the footage in the channel from different angles, you get immediate feedback on what you can implement right away, allowing you to improve your skills in no time. No matter what level you’re at, I highly recommend it and will definitely do another session in three months. Thanks again for your coaching :)”
