We popped into Gavel Nähatelier and immediately noticed how versatile this place is. This tailor shop specialises in custom-made clothing, including repairs and alterations.
We love that they handle both men’s and women’s outfits. So if you and your partner are heading to a special event, you don’t have to run around town for two different tailors.
Another thing we love about them is that they can create bespoke outfits for basically every occasion. And if you don’t need anything too formal, they can curate something for you as well.
Just keep in mind that their typical production runs from three to six months, so you really need to plan ahead.
Now, if you’re in a hurry, you can opt for Gavel’s business suits instead. It’s still custom-made, but designs are minimal, so they could turn one around in ninety-six hours.
Meanwhile, they also have Spanish bespoke suits, but they will take two to three months to produce. On the other hand, Italian suits take a bit longer, but they’re equally great as long as you’re ready to wait for six months.
While this custom-made tailor shop can accommodate minor adjustments for free, you’ll have to make sure that the revisions won’t take two hours of tailoring. Otherwise, extra fees will be charged.

Since 2018, Atelier Verto has been creating bespoke suits, jackets, knitwear, and accessories, including scarves and socks.
But here’s our favourite part: they also have custom-made Italian footwear. We love that you can pick from fine calfskin or suede in a range of colours, which honestly feels next-level for a tailor.
It’s worth noting, though, that they only accommodate men’s bespoke clothing, so for the ladies out there, you may want to skip them for now.
What we really love is how they take their time choosing the right fabrics. You can really tell that they care about the final look, and not just finishing a piece quickly.
However, the level of detail and time they spend also mean that most pieces aren’t always available. And because they’re thorough, heavier adjustments might take a bit longer too.
Additionally, their styles are very flattering. You can also expect them to be honest if they think a certain cut won’t work with your body.
Here, appointments aren’t rushed, which we love. They make sure to allot about 1.5 hours per client, ensuring you get proper attention.

What we like most about Collin Suiting is that they’ve got a wide range of fabrics, and some of their go-to pieces are just so tempting.
For instance, their linen-silk waistcoat is perfect for festive or business occasions, priced at CHF 1,245. If you’re after something lightweight for summer, their Loro Piana suits are very comfortable and are only priced at CHF 890.
For the vintage-style lovers out there, you’ll love that they can whip up old-school custom suits, usually in brown plaid.
We also appreciate them for being upfront with their prices. Here, you can expect to pay whatever you see online, without extra charges. Just be ready to pay a 70% deposit and settle the balance upon delivery.
And for those of you who are not based in Zurich but want to get a hold of Collin Suiting’s creation, then you’ll love that they handle the logistics. We actually experienced shipping a suit to the USA ourselves, and we’re glad it went smoothly.
Rentals are also available for both suits and shoes, which is a nice bonus. Just keep in mind that their fittings aren’t really built for bodybuilders. If you’re very muscular, you might need to discuss custom adjustments beforehand.

We dropped by Vils Schneiderei Textilreinigung, which makes custom-made trousers, jackets, shirts, and even leather pieces for both men and women.
Here, they also handle home textiles, which was a nice surprise. It’s great that we can also just drop by here if we want custom-made pillowcases and curtains, which are perfect for keeping up a theme.
Another thing that we love about them is that they handle dry cleaning. Even better, they are confident in handling even the expensive pieces too.
The best part is that you can have them in just three days, which is perfect if you have a sudden event to attend.
You can also trust them to handle alterations. We had a pair of pants altered, washed, and ironed—all in under two hours, perfect if you’re in a hurry.
But because they offer tailoring and dry cleaning services, detailed, bespoke pieces might not have the same boutique feel as some high-end ateliers.
Additionally, this custom-made tailor shop is closed on Sundays.
