Dog grooming in Zurich made easy with these 5 best salons

Grooming Quality: I paid close attention to how my dog looked and felt afterwards. A great groom means the groomers followed my instructions exactly, and my pup came out comfortable, not stressed or itchy. Service Offerings: I looked for salons that go beyond a simple wash and dry. At the very least, they have to offer bathing, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and fur brushing. Pricing and Transparency: I don’t mind paying a bit more if the quality matches the price. I ensured that the prices are listed and that there are no surprise fees. Cleanliness and Hygiene: I assessed the cleanliness and maintenance of the space. A tidy, sanitary salon shows they take their job and your dog’s health seriously.

I believe every dog deserves a good grooming now and then—neat fur, trimmed nails, and clean paws.

Sadly, I’ve had more negative experiences than positive ones with dog groomers in Zurich. One gave my pup a terrible haircut, and another even left a scratch on her paw.

The good news? While there are plenty of misses, you can find a few handpicked gems in this city that deliver great cuts, gentle care, and fair prices.

I’m sharing my top picks to help fellow dog owners avoid the same stress, and to give a shoutout to the salons that truly treat our pups right.

How much do dog grooming services cost in Zurich?

Dog grooming services in Zurich typically cost between CHF 45 and CHF 200. However, the total cost may depend on the size of the dog being serviced, the type of coat, and the specific grooming services requested.

The first thing that stood out when I brought my pup to Hundasalon Doggroomer Zürich was the welcoming staff. The moment I walked in, I felt like my fur baby and I were VIPs. They were so particular about understanding my dog’s coat type and grooming needs.

They offer washing, blow-drying, brushing and claw trimming. You can then top off the service with a light perfume.

You can choose these individually or opt for a complete grooming package. Either way, you’re getting reasonable rates starting at CHF 90 for toy dogs up to CHF 180 for big ones.

I also appreciate how the staff provided me with grooming tips I had never known, such as using cornstarch to loosen fur knots before brushing. These tips show their exceptional knowledge and experience.

It’s just a bit disappointing that walk-ins can be a drag, especially considering the number of four-legged clients Hundasalon Doggroomer Zürich serves every day. Registering isn’t any better, as they are a bit slow to confirm appointments.

Pros

  • Diverse services
  • Knowledgeable and friendly staff
  • Reasonable rates

Cons

  • Slow walk-in service
  • Slow appointment confirmation

    Spotless and beautiful salon

“Super happy with my little puppy’s first groom!!! Dorota has a beautiful calming nature and adores dogs!! She was very welcoming and put myself and Gracie at ease from the moment we walked into her spotless and beautiful grooming salon. She sat with us and took time to get to know my puppy and understand exactly what we wanted. A first-time and VERY hyper puppy is not an easy customer but not only did Gracie receive a beautiful groom but she was calm and relaxed and clearly adored Dorota – so important for a first time experience! We will be back and I highly recommend Dorota. Thank you!!!!”

    Delicate and patient groomer

“Dorota is a great groomer and always takes care very well of my dog. I took my dog from shelter and was very worried how my dog will handle the first grooming, but Dorota was so delicate and patient with her and even splitted the first visit to make it more comfortable for my dog. She also explained me the specifics of the fur of my dog (mixed breed) and how it needs to be treated. Each time that we used Dorota’s services we were very satisfied (grooming, bathing, nails).”

A close friend recommended The Paw House, and I was impressed.

I accompanied my friend once and saw how much the grooming staff pampered her beloved Chihuahua. They gave a spa treatment, complete with a “pawdicure” and a warm towel wrap.

However, that pampering comes at a cost. The high prices of these services might turn off owners, as grooming alone starts at CHF 120-150 for dogs weighing 15 kilograms.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to have my furry friend groomed here. That’s because The Paw House only accommodates smaller breeds, weighing under 15 kilograms.

Regardless, I’d still give them a ten out of ten rating for their extra services. Unlike traditional grooming and kennels, The Paw House offers a cage-free boarding environment. This promotes better socialisation and can help reduce stress.

If you wish to extend the grooming session to an overnight stay, why not also check their behavioural training during daycare? Trust me, it’s so convenient that this salon has all your needs.

    Pros

    • Multiple grooming services
    • Offers daycare services
    • Cage-free boarding philosophy

    Cons

    • Premium pricing
    • Limited to small breeds

      Fantastic and responsive team

“Ruxi and her team are fantastic! Our dog goes to daycare once a week and is always so excited—he absolutely loves it! Even though our dog can be challenging at times, the team handles him with great skill and care, which truly reflects their expertise, and we really appreciate that. We also value Ruxi’s quick responsiveness; whenever an emergency arises, she always ensures we have a spot for our dog, which is such a relief. We’ve also used their grooming services and were very satisfied. Thank you, Ruxi and the team!”

      Knows exactly what to do

“I brought my pup for grooming and she spent the day at The Paw House. I am so happy with how she looks! They took such good care of her and I know she had so much fun. Her new haircut is amazing, Irantzu is so good – she knew exactly what cut to give my Australian Shepherd! Thank you ladies so much!”

I accompanied my friend here once and knew right away it’s a special place. There’s just this calm, welcoming vibe in Hundert Hunde that rubs off on the dogs. My friend’s pup is almost always hyperactive, but the staff was able to calm her down quickly.

That level of detail, I believe, is what allows Hundert Hunde to provide personalised grooming to every dog. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach. Everything’s tailored to the information provided by the owner.

It’s also valuable to me that they practice eco-friendliness, especially with the products they use. Yes, that’s right! Their shampoos and conditioners are all natural, so you know your dogs are safe.

I was also pleased with their tailored grooming packages. They offer the Hunderbar Bath Package for basic grooming, and the Hunderbar New Look Package for additional sanitary cleaning and nail trimming.

The problem, according to my friend, is that these packages are CHF 5-10 higher than most dog groomers. Availability is also an issue because their services are in demand.

      Pros

      • Comprehensive grooming services
      • Personalised services
      • Uses natural products
      • Great grooming packages

      Cons

      • Higher pricing
      • Securing a slot can be difficult

        Well-organised and very clean

“My dog and I love coming here. Cris really loves the doggies and it shows! I like that it’s one dog (family) at a time. Very well organized and very clean. Cris’ English is great, if German is difficult for the owner. We’ve been coming to Cris for about 6 years; I’ve referred a few doggos to her also, and they all thank ME for the work she does! Behold my schatzli, Max.”

        Amazing place to go

“Amazing place to go. Your dog will end up looking like a teddy bear. I recommend this place if you need a grooming salon for your dog”

What I love most about Holy Dog Salon is Irantzu, the owner and main man. His credentials speak volumes: New Dog Salon alumnus and former The Paw House groomer.

Unsurprisingly, the way he handles dogs reflects this broad expertise. He is always gentle and calm, even with a fidgety, energetic dog. He never raises his voice or uses restraints, yet dogs are almost always at ease around him.

I also appreciate that Holy Dog Salon offers comprehensive grooming services, which include washing, blow-drying, clipping, trimming, and ear cleaning.

The rates are also reasonable: CHF 85-115 for small pups, CHF 100-140 for medium-sized canines, and CHF 120-170 for larger dogs.

An added bonus is that Holy Dog Salon also offers dog sitting for small and medium dogs, as this service effectively combines the functions of a pet groomer and dog sitter in one package.

Unfortunately, availability at Holy Dog Salon can be an issue, as it’s closed on Saturdays and Sundays. This limited operation makes it hard for fur parents who work every day or on weekends to secure a grooming slot.

Worse, there is no online booking.

        Pros

        • Passionate and knowledgeable owner
        • Comprehensive services
        • Offers a dog sitting service
        • Reasonable pricing

        Cons

        • Limited business hours
        • No online booking

          Friendly and respectful owner

“I brought my Boston Terrier for grooming today without knowing what to expect as he is very shy towards people and never before was taken to a dog salon. I am very pleased with the way Irantzu interacted with Lemmy (my dog). She was very friendly but respecting his space until he started to relax and enjoy the process. In short, happy dog happy owner! I’ll be taking Lemmy back for sure!”

Extremely kind, patient, and trustworthy owner

“I brought my very scruffy dog to the salon and got back a refreshed distinguished gentleman! The owner is extremely kind, patient and trustworthy, I’d leave my pet here anytime knowing that she would take excellent care of my boy. 10/10 would recommend.”

          5. Seidenfell

          seidenfell

          Address: Sempacherstrasse 23, 8032

          Operating Hours:

          • Monday to Tuesday, Thursday to Friday: 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM – 6 PM
          • Wednesday and Sunday: Closed

          Website

The first thing I noticed right away with Seidenfell is how they bundle their grooming services. Aside from being a nice touch, bundling offerings makes it easier for fur parents to identify exactly what their dog needs.

Seidenfell’s Fresh & Happy package, for instance, starts at CHF 75. It already covers bathing, blow-drying, brushing, and care for eyes, ears, and claws. Meanwhile, Fluffy, Fresh & Happy Package offers undercoat removal and carding contours at CHF 110.

I’m also impressed that they accommodate extra-large dogs, like Great Danes and Schnauzers. Not a lot of dog groomers handle these large breeds, so I’m giving them props for this.

Their ultrasonic dental cleaning is also a feature that many dog owners are pleased with. It doesn’t require anaesthesia. It’s gentle and ensures dogs are comfortable throughout.

The only thing that bothers me with Seidenfell is that it can be hard to secure a booking. Communication can also be an issue sometimes when calls are unreturned or inquiries are answered late.

          Pros

          • Comprehensive grooming packages
          • Reasonable rates
          • Accommodates extra-large dogs
          • Offers ultrasonic dental cleaning service

          Cons

          • Securing a slot can be difficult
          • Communication can be slow

            Impressive and professional service

“Milo loves getting his bath and trim at Seidenfell. I have been very impressed with the quality of their service, professionalism, knowledge of breeds and willingness to accommodate us last minute and past the opening hours! (I know it won’t always be possible). I am so happy I found this place so close to home!”

            Great first salon experience

“My little puppy, Gaia, had a great first salon experience here. Helga tailored our visit to making Gaia feel comfortable in the space, the hands of the groomer, and with the materials (clippers, hair dryer, bath, etc..) We left very happy customers, and will return. A plus is that you can buy recommended grooming supplies which are not always easy to source elsewhere. Convenient one-stop shop!”
