Relieve aches with these 5 trusted osteopaths in Zurich

  • Certifications and qualifications: We focused on osteopaths with recognised certifications and registrations under accredited Swiss organisations.
  • Industry experience and specialisation: We examined each practitioner’s years of hands-on experience and their specialisation.
  • Pricing and value for money: We compared session fees, which generally range from CHF 120 to CHF 160. Clinics that also work with supplementary insurance providers earned extra points for affordability.
  • Treatment flexibility and customisation: We prioritised osteopaths who tailor each session to individual needs, whether you’re a tourist recovering from travel fatigue or a local athlete dealing with strain.
  • Availability and location: We considered clinics that are easily accessible across Zurich and offer weekend or evening slots to accommodate busy schedules.
  • Additional services and support: We valued osteopaths who go beyond standard treatments, offering extras such as physiotherapy, nutrition advice, or holistic approaches.

Persistent back pain or stiff shoulders aren’t just annoyances; they’re signs your body is crying out for help. Ignoring them only makes simple movements more difficult, and eventually, your quality of life suffers.

Osteopathy provides a hands-on approach to restoring comfort, utilising gentle techniques to alleviate pain and enhance mobility. It’s a natural solution that focuses on the body’s overall functioning.

If you’re ready to move with less pain and more freedom, visiting an osteopath in Zurich could be the step that changes everything.

Osteopathie Central is located right in Zurich’s city centre, making it really easy for us to get there. The clinic has certified osteopaths, including Michael Stadler and Anna Ross, plus a medical masseur.

Our first consultation went beyond a simple check-up. They took a full case history, examined the whole body, and gave practical self-management tips like exercises.

Pricing is also very clear, with a rate of CHF 16.50 per five minutes, with most sessions running CHF 160–200. The only snag we found was that emergency appointments come with a CHF 35 surcharge, which felt steep compared to other clinics.

Still, easy communication is made possible by a team that speaks German, English, and Spanish.

They also cater to children, pregnant women, athletes, and even performing artists with tailored treatments.

On top of osteopathy, they offer online booking and have transparent administrative fees, which range from CHF 40 to CHF 90 for reports—very straightforward, we must say.

Pros

  • Central location in Zurich
  • Multiple certified osteopaths
  • Holistic, full-body approach with exercises
  • Multilingual consultations
  • Specialisation for babies, women, athletes, and performers
  • Online booking and clear cost breakdowns

Cons

  • CHF 35 surcharge for emergency appointments

Love the treatment and its progress

“I have been working with Roy Macdonald for a few months and I absolutely love the treatment and its progress. I came in for a knee issue and ended up rethinking my balance, breathing pattern and hip stability. It truly is a holistic treatment, and especially valuable for people who enjoy movement in various forms (such as running, yoga, pilates etc.) – it will open your mind! Side note: the waiting room is so beautiful!”

Alleviate the pain and get rid of the stiffness

“After trying many different treatments and specialists over the years, I had the chance to stumble upon Osteopathie Central in Google. I came to their clinic barely being able to move my back and neck, and already in the first session, Mr McDonald was able to alleviate the pain and get rid of the stiffness. Even better he also gave me the “tools” to prevent relapses myself. I can only strongly recommend it!! As an aside, worth mentioning is that the clinic is elegantly decorated with a tasteful minimalist (but warm) style.”

2. Osteo Active

Address: Nüschelerstrasse 45, 8001

Contact Details: +41767993320

Business Hours:

  • Tuesday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Wednesday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM

Osteo Active is run solely by Thomas H. Tschudi, who has over 20 years of clinical experience. His background covers physiotherapy, osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, and visceral techniques (very wide service range!).

But because it’s a single-practitioner setup, availability really hinges on his personal schedule. If he’s booked out or unavailable, you may find yourself waiting longer compared to a larger clinic.

Nonetheless, once you’re in, each session feels genuinely tailored. Thomas combines manual therapy, posture guidance, and even lifestyle coaching. His training in visceral osteopathy also makes this spot ideal if you’re dealing with digestive complaints.

Insurance coverage is solid too, as he’s recognised by EMR, ASCA, and EGK. It is easier to get supplementary plans to reimburse these treatments.

What stood out most was the level of detail in his approach: gait analysis, fascia work, and craniosacral therapy all blended seamlessly into one session.

Pros

  • Run by Thomas Tschudi with over 20 years’ experience
  • Mix of osteopathy, craniosacral, visceral, and manual therapy
  • Sessions are adapted individually
  • Recognised by EMR, ASCA, and EGK
  • Lifestyle and posture coaching included

Cons

  • Limited availability

A top-notch professional

“Tom is a top notch professional and helped much more than I thought would be possible (I had no experience with Osteo before and was always very skeptical about „alternative medicine” but it helps – it did at least to me a lot!), especially after I overtrained initially and the injury relapsed – highly recommended”

Goes straight to the root cause of the pain

“Tom is an exceptional osteopath! From the moment you walk in with pain, he knows exactly where to intervene, and you leave feeling fixed. His approach is incredibly effective: he doesn’t just treat the symptoms on the surface but goes straight to the root cause. He also found me an old pain to check and that go finally diagnosed.

His expertise and precision make him, without a doubt, the best osteopath I’ve ever had. Highly recommend! ⭐🙌🔥”

OsteoMed is part of a strong network of osteopathic practices under OsteoMed Schweiz AG. With roots tracing back to 2002 and the official opening of ZOZ in 2004, the clinic now thrives as one of five locations across Switzerland.

The team here is stacked with highly qualified osteopaths like Thomas J. Kessler, D.O. MPH, and Katharina Nickels, D.O., each bringing GDK or MSc credentials. They train regularly, sharing insights internally, which we found translates into consistent care.

Treatments cover everything from parietal and visceral osteopathy to more niche areas like therapies for children. What surprised us was the availability of hypnotherapy on-site—PD Dr Philipp Stämpfli runs OMNI sessions for stress, phobias, or trauma.

Beyond that, having flexible treatment times and add-ons like Matrix Rhythm Therapy made visits feel comprehensive.

But even though sessions are EMR-recognised and reimbursable through insurance, the exact payout can vary per plan, so the lack of guaranteed clarity might frustrate first-timers.

Pros

  • Long history with roots back to 2002
  • Highly qualified team with GDK/MSc credentials
  • Wide range of treatments, including paediatric care
  • Hypnotherapy option on-site
  • Flexible treatment times
  • Recognised by EMR and accepted by insurance

Cons

  • Uncertainty on reimbursement amounts

Recommended for professionalism and responsiveness

“A great place to find professional osteopathic help. I highly recommend Dr. Antoine Villeroy for his professionalism, careful approach, responsiveness and tips he gives for the home exercises. This is super helpful and nice! I have lower back pain and neck pain which are always treated with care and kindness by Dr. Villeroy. Osteomed Seefeld Praxis has a good location, comfortable waiting room and beautiful rooms.”

Professional, and at the same time empathetic

“I’ve been receiving treatment from Katharina Nickels for many years. She is a highly experienced therapist who regularly attends continuing education courses. In my opinion, she has “seeing” hands, is very professional, and at the same time empathetic. The treatments always do me a lot of good, and I highly recommend the entire practice.”

Swiss Osteopath is led by Jev Goronin, the practice owner. He holds an MSc in Osteopathy, the Swiss CDS Diploma, and EMR/RME certification, which sets a high bar for quality.

What really struck us, though, was his focus on both children and adults. Parents can bring in babies or adolescents for osteopathic care, a standout feature compared to other Zurich clinics that primarily cater to adults.

Consultations run about 45–60 minutes, with fees around CHF 150–160 per session. We believe this rate is fairly standard.

And the fact that Jev is multilingual—speaking German, English, Italian, Spanish, and Russian—means you don’t feel lost in translation.

Add to that the flexibility of weekday appointments, and the setup feels designed for busy, urban patients.

But the lack of an online booking system was a real challenge during our experience because we had to call and email them back and forth to get an appointment confirmed.

Pros

  • High academic credentials owner
  • Multilingual: German, English, Italian, Spanish, and Russian
  • Treats children, babies, and adolescents in addition to adults
  • Central Zurich location at Predigerplatz 40
  • Fair pricing

Cons

  • Lacks an online booking system

Demonstrates a genuine commitment

“Jev is an exceptional osteopath who demonstrates a genuine commitment. His attentiveness, knowledge and thorough approach are truly exemplary.

Whenever I’m in pain he goes out of his way to find an emergency appointment for me and is always looking for solutions to improve my well-being. I highly recommend Jev to anyone in search of exceptional healthcare and genuine compassion.”

Extremely knowledgeable and helpful

“I have seen Jev, on 2 separate occasions for different issues  . I’ve found him to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful, from sports and work related injuries I’ve seen probably 8 other therapists over the last 12 years and Jev is the best. At first I was sceptical about this practice as he had over 150 reviews and practice is rather small but cozy. However, Jev may have the most sound knowledge of the human body and how it works as anyone I’ve ever worked with and she didn’t need anything but her hands and of anatomy. He not only helped me relieve the pain I was experiencing but increased my range of motion and we were working on strengthening the previously injured areas before my benefits ran out. I never fully finished a treatment plan but that on me for being cheap and stopping after 6 sessions when my benefits ran out as I was pain free and back to normal. I’ve recommended Jev to friends and family members which is the highest priase I can give.”

Functiomed AG is a full health hub. Since its founding in 2009, it has grown into a large interdisciplinary centre with osteopaths, physiotherapists, physicians, and sports medicine specialists working under one roof.

It is very convenient that their on-site diagnostics, including ultrasound, digital imaging, and lab tests, can be done without leaving the clinic.

Athletes in particular even benefit from their osteopathy services, with programs aimed at recovery and performance optimisation.

And we love that they have these preventive courses like functioTraining and functioWALK. They actually want to level up before things go wrong.

Sessions usually cost CHF 140–160. The cool part is that most of the practitioners are ASCA and EMR-recognised, and supplementary insurance often reimburses part of the fee.

One issue, though, is that not all treatments are covered by basic insurance, and for certain modalities you’ll need supplementary coverage.

Pros

  • Interdisciplinary model with osteopathy, physiotherapy, and more
  • Competitive session fees
  • EMR/ASCA recognition with supplementary insurance
  • Services for babies and pelvic floor health
  • On-site diagnostics (ultrasound, imaging, labs)
  • Sports osteopathy with elite athlete focus
  • Preventive programs and modern therapies

Cons

  • Some services are not covered by basic insurance

Excellent patient handling

“I’ve had excellent experience with both the doctors (Mr. Haag, Mr. Smolen) and the physiotherapists (Mr. Sedlaczek, Mr. Effenberger) at Functiomed across two knee injuries. I’ve found the doctors to be very knowledgeable in traumas related to sport and with excelent patient handling, while the physiotherapists were very versatile being able to employ diverse techniques to get the recovery going. I’ve learned from them several exercises that I’ll do all my life to prevent further injury. Nobody wants to get injured when doing sports, but when that happens, that’s the place i go to.”

Empathetic and recovery expert

“I attended this practice in September 2019 after having an accident slipping on ice and injuring my back.  Phillip Frank was my osteopath and after five sessions over two weeks I was able to continue travelling and able to walk again without being in extreme pain.  His empathy and expertise enabled my recovery and I could thoroughly recommend Phillip.  He also provided a medical report for my insurance company in English which made it easier to lodge a claim.”
