The 5 best sports bars in Zurich to watch every goal live

One time, game night was just around the corner, and we were determined not to spend it at home again with the same old snacks while dealing with a laggy stream.

We wanted real energy—a place where every cheer shakes the walls and big screens bring every second to life, with things to do like grabbing wings and playing darts.

So we went looking for a sports bar in Zurich that could turn game night into a real night out, and we found exactly that.

1. Sportsbar 1904

Sportsbar 1904 offers an unbeatable sports-viewing experience, situated right in the heart of the FIFA World Football Museum.

This spot features three giant LED screens and comfy leather chairs that nod to football culture. Fans can catch live matches, from football to a variety of other sports, in a modern, energetic atmosphere.

We love the menu here. It features high-end finger food, such as dim sum and gourmet burgers, paired perfectly with local brews like Turbinenbräu. You can order these along with a diverse selection of beers, wines, and cocktails from around the world.

And great news for those who get hungry mid-game: the balcony next to the museum is open for drinks and snacks.

Pro Tip:

For a weekly changing menu, visit their website for the latest updates. Food orders are still accepted after 6 PM.

2. Le Calvados

Address: Idaplatz 4, 8003

Contact: +41 43 960 08 10

Hours: Monday to Friday: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM | Saturday: 3:00 PM – 12:00 AM | Sunday: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM

Pricing: ₣₣

Le Calvados is what happens when a rowdy sports bar and a neighbourhood pub have a really fun kid. Since opening its doors in 2010, this bustling spot at Idaplatz has become a go-to for sports enthusiasts in Zurich.

The place is decorated with vintage sports photos of legends like Cruijiff and Borg, creating a nostalgic yet energetic vibe. And trust us, the indoor setting is pretty cosy too. You can opt for the terrace during warmer months, though.

They have HD screens and live commentary, when available. One night it’s FCZ, the next it’s El Clasico, Rugby World Cup, or even the Australian Open.

Plus, their light food menu includes Philly and chilli-cheese sandwiches. But we usually go for their Bretzeln and sausage & cheese platters.

Pro Tip:

If there’s a big game on, like the Champions League or a final, don’t mess around because tables fill fast. Book ahead and get there at least 30 minutes early, or you’ll be standing behind someone’s shoulder all night.

3. Oliver Twist

Hours: Monday to Sunday: 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM

Pricing: ₣₣

Oliver Twist was established in 1970, making it the city’s oldest pub. It’s located in the charming alleys of the Old Town. This traditional English pub is where locals, expats, and tourists come together, and we love it here too.

Walk in and you will see inviting, dark-wood panelled walls, cosy lighting, and a classic dartboard.

They also have dozens of flat-screen TVs with big games playing across multiple screens, including European football, rugby, and the NFL.

Meanwhile, the kitchen’s serving up all the UK classics: fish and chips, curry, pies, and big burgers. They also do wild quarterly specials. And last time? We had a chilli dog stacked with real sausage, loaded chilli con carne and spicy BBQ.

But you can also enjoy trivia nights here. They host regular Monday night pub quizzes, usually at 7:30 PM. These trivia nights are extremely popular among students and expatriates.

Pro Tip:

Don’t forget to download the Mr. Pickwick Club app for drink discounts, food passes, birthday treats, and exclusive offers just for regulars.

4. Kennedy’s Irish Pub

Address: Freischützgasse 14, 8004

Contact: +41 44 241 92 94

Hours: Monday: 11:30 AM – 11:00 PM | Tuesday to Wednesday: 11:30 AM – 11:30 PM | Thursday: 11:30 AM – 12:00 AM | Friday – Saturday: 11:30 AM – 12:30 AM | Sunday: 12:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Pricing: ₣₣

Kennedy’s Irish Pub is the go-to spot for the international crowd, but we’re not saying it’s not famous with locals too. In fact, it’s one of the places where Swiss regulars actually combine pints and live football because it’s just a walking distance from the main station.

When you walk inside, you’ll see two giant projection screens, several HD TVs, and split sound zones. This allows guests to catch multiple games at once, whether it’s football or rugby.

And if you’re looking to kick off your week on a high note, don’t miss out on Mondays. You can enjoy the pub’s legendary quiz night. It’s a fun-filled tradition packed with prizes that keeps the regulars coming back for more.

But that’s not all because the kitchen serves up traditional Irish favourites like their famous Beef & Guinness pies. But our favourite? It’s their CHF 28.50 steak sandwich—tender and warm, served with fries.

Pro Tip:

For sports nights, especially during big games or quiz evenings, it’s smart to reserve ahead via email or phone. Walk-ins are possible, but we recommend booking at least a few days in advance for popular nights.

5. Paddy Reilly’s

Pricing: ₣₣

Paddy Reilly’s is where Irish charm meets the lively energy of Zurich, making it a favourite hangout for sports enthusiasts and casual diners.

We like it because it’s just a quick 10-minute stroll from the main station. This pub also boasts a traditional interior featuring warm wood accents, comfortable seating, and a long bar that sets the stage for unforgettable nights.

They even have multiple large HD screens lining the bar area, with a main projector screen anchoring the viewing experience. You can expect a rotating schedule of live sports, such as the UEFA Champions League and Rugby Union.

And what’s even better than the sports? It’s their classic roast-style Sunday lunch, served with a starter, main course, or chicken. At CHF 42, you can enjoy a generous portion in the 3-course option.

Pro Tip:

Don’t forget to pick up a Paddy Reilly’s Members Club Card to earn points with every visit and unlock some fantastic rewards.
