Stay safe and confident with the top 5 STD testing centres in Zurich

Certifications and qualifications: We focused on clinics with licensed doctors and certified lab professionals, making sure the tests are medically accurate and handled according to Swiss health standards.

Industry experience and specialisation: We considered centres with years of experience in sexual health and those offering a broad scope of STI testing, from HIV and syphilis to chlamydia and hepatitis.

Pricing and value for money: We compared clinics with transparent pricing, ranging from CHF 25 for individual tests to CHF 165 for full panels. We prioritised those that balance affordability with reliable service.

Testing flexibility and customisation: We looked for clinics that allow both walk-ins and appointments.

Availability and location: We prioritised clinics spread across Zurich that are easy to reach, with extended hours or weekend options.

Additional services and support: We also valued clinics that go beyond testing, offering PrEP/PEP consultations or counselling.

Taking responsibility for your health isn’t always easy, but it’s always worth it. Choosing to get tested isn’t just about you. It’s about protecting your partner and your future.

STD testing is simple and discreet. It provides answers that give you confidence moving forward. The good thing is that in Zurich, clinics make the process stress-free and respectful, allowing you to focus on peace of mind.

So for anyone who values safety and care, arranging STD testing in Zurich is one of the most responsible choices you can make. If you’re unsure which centre to choose, take a look at our list of trusted options below.

Checkpoint Zürich is one of the biggest queer-focused health centres in Switzerland, and the new location at Limmatstrasse 25 is a huge step up. The space covers three floors, and the vibe feels far more open and community-driven than a typical clinic.

Testing here is comprehensive. They cover HIV, syphilis, and more, with results usually ready within three working days online or by SMS. It was convenient not having to wait long or call back.

The one thing that might hold some people back is the free STI testing program. It only applies to Zürich residents under 25 or those with a KulturLegi. If you’re outside those categories, you’ll need to pay out of pocket for services.

Aside from testing, there’s a broad range of care, from PrEP and PEP to vaccinations and counselling tailored to trans and queer folks.

What stands out is how they extend their work beyond the centre itself, with mobile testing in clubs and regular campaigns.

Pros

  • Large new location at Limmatstrasse 25
  • Comprehensive testing coverage
  • Results in 3 working days via online or SMS
  • Top-notch LGBTQ+ care
  • Runs mobile testing and community events

Cons

  • Limited free STI testing to specific groups

Compassionate and considerate

“I am so grateful to have a Züri Checkpoint so close and in the middle of everything. Might as well be the only place in Zurich where it’s a pleasure to go for medical checks. For years, the only challenging thing I observed is that all the staff is too hot to handle. You’re all amazingly sweet and compassionate, professional and considerate. Only got love and crushes for you! 💜”

Easy and quick online appointment booking

“Very impressed how efficient check-point_zh is. Easy and quick online appointment booking for testing and not many hours later to meet a physician if needed. Very friendly staff at reception and similar excellent welcome by counselor and nurse Oliver. May highly recommend this place.”

TEST-IN, managed by Sexuelle Gesundheit Zürich (SeGZ), sits along Kanzleistrasse and feels approachable compared to many private clinics. Prices are upfront (CHF 60 for HIV, or CHF 165 for a full package), so there are no surprises at the counter.

From the moment you step in, the emphasis on privacy stands out. Instead of using names, they assign codes. It makes the whole experience discreet and comfortable, even if you’re feeling anxious.

The testing process itself is simple to follow, with a rapid HIV test delivering results in about 20 minutes. Other tests, like syphilis or hepatitis C, are sent to an external lab. We appreciate that results arrive by SMS in two to four working days.

But because the clinic runs largely on a walk-in model, there are days when the waiting room fills up quickly.

Nonetheless, there’s an inclusive service, with counselling available in multiple languages and free testing offered to under-25s or KulturLegi holders.

Pros

  • Transparent pricing
  • Anonymous with a coded system
  • Rapid HIV test results in 20 minutes
  • SMS results in 2–4 days for lab tests
  • Free testing for under-25s and KulturLegi holders

Cons

  • Walk-in system can mean long waiting times

Very professional team with a pleasant atmosphere

“Very professional team, pleasant atmosphere, hardly any waiting time, good information, no appointment necessary, anonymous tests also possible if, like me, you didn’t have your ID with you spontaneously, because you don’t need a wallet in everyday life these days 😂 …”

Very friendly and competent staff

“I highly recommend it. Very friendly, competent staff, quick and clearly explained results, and a central and clean location. The initial questionnaire takes a bit of time, but that’s understandable, as it allows us to better answer any further questions.”

Checkin Zollhaus doubles as both a medical practice and a testing centre, which makes it stand out right away. Beyond routine STI testing, you’ll also find PrEP and PEP consultations handled under one roof.

It helps that they’re recognised in the Zürcher Ärzte Gemeinschaft AG, so insurance billing is possible for many services. However, preventive screenings without symptoms may not always be covered, meaning you’ll sometimes need to pay out-of-pocket.

The pricing is refreshingly transparent, with reductions since July 2024 making standard tests more accessible. For instance, an HIV rapid test costs CHF 45, which felt reasonable compared to other Zurich clinics.

Consultations can be done in several languages (English, German, and French), which made the process smoother. Saturday hours are another plus, especially for quick testing or PEP advice, since many places in Zurich close for the weekend.

Moreover, they also have doctors on-site, which gives a sense of continuity and trust often missing at standalone centres.

Pros

  • Combines medical practice with STI services
  • Accepts insurance billing
  • Clear reduced pricing
  • Multilingual consultations
  • Saturday hours available

Cons

  • Preventive screenings may not be covered by insurance

Knowledgeable and discreet

“I recently visited CheckIn Zollhaus for an STD consultation and was thoroughly impressed with their service. The medical staff was knowledgeable and discreet, making me feel comfortable during my appointment. It was convenient to have a doctor on-site for additional consultation, and I found the ability to bill services directly through my health insurance to be incredibly helpful. The availability of Saturday services and vaccinations without an appointment also adds to the accessibility and efficiency of the clinic. Highly recommend for anyone seeking confidential and professional STD-related healthcare services.”

The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed

“Very friendly and helpful staff! The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed; you immediately feel at ease. I would get tested here again anytime. I had an appointment for a coronavirus test and didn’t even have to wait.”

4. Walk-in Labor

Walk-in Labor lives up to its name with a true drop-in model that makes testing straightforward. You can come with or without a doctor’s referral, and the flexibility of just showing up for lab work makes the whole process feel less intimidating.

Prices are clear too. The “safer sex” blood test at CHF 80 plus small fees, and the urine test combo for chlamydia and gonorrhoea at CHF 85. Results for most panels are typically sent via email within 24 hours.

Adding to the convenience, their weekday hours extend to 7 PM, and Saturday mornings are also covered. With two Zurich locations, including Zollhaus, you’re not tied to a single address.

The one drawback is the lack of full doctor consultations or in-depth counselling on-site. It’s inconvenient that if anything comes back positive, you’ll need to arrange follow-up care elsewhere.

But what impresses us most is the efficient process. From check-in to getting results online, there are no unnecessary steps.

Pros

  • True walk-in model with or without referral
  • Transparent package pricing
  • Fast results, often within 24 hours
  • Extended weekday and Saturday hours
  • Two Zurich branch locations
  • Confidential email delivery

Cons

  • No full doctor consultation or counselling on-site

English-speaking customer service with efficient processes

“I visited this walk-in lab on multiple occasions, both for Covid19 tests and generic blood tests. I always found good English-speaking customer service, efficient processes and got the results the day after. Prices are in line with other similar clinics in Zurich. The only point of feedback would be that apart from Covid tests, the other results are only available in German which is not ideal. English at least should be an option. Overall, I would certainly recommend this clinic and I will definitely be back in the future.”

The entire experience was straightforward and hassle-free

“A professional and efficient laboratory. I inquired about their prices via email and conveniently booked an appointment for blood tests through their website. The process at the lab was seamless, and the nurse who took my blood sample was both kind and accommodating. The entire experience was straightforward and hassle-free. Highly recommended!”

Hausarzt- und Spezialarztpraxis Dr. med. A. Knoflach feels like a trusted family doctor’s office. The practice covers both general medicine and nephrology, so testing happens in a broader medical context, which can be comforting.

Walking in, it’s reassuring to see their in-house laboratory. Many rapid tests—like HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea, and chlamydia—deliver results in about 15 minutes.

However, even though they have long and flexible hours, waiting can still be part of the experience. Appointments are bookable online, but depending on the day, walk-ins or other patients might be seen first.

On the plus side, the practice keeps things discreet, with a quiet atmosphere and the option for anonymous HIV testing. Insurance billing is also possible, which really helps if you’re planning for ongoing healthcare rather than just a one-off test.

We also found convenience in the extras, including free parking outside and ability to handle other medical needs under the same roof.

Pros

  • Full GP and specialist services under one roof
  • Wide portfolio of rapid STI tests
  • Anonymous HIV testing option
  • Long and flexible opening hours
  • In-house laboratory for fast processing
  • Free parking and online booking

Cons

  • Wait times can happen despite having appointments

Very friendly and competent

“I have been a patient in this practice for years. Also had different doctors. Everyone was very friendly and competent. Every necessary investigation has been made and a service has NEVER been billed incorrectly or too much. The practice assistants are also nice and helpful. In my opinion, it is not always the doctors who are to blame, but the increasingly difficult patients. A big thank you to Dr Knoflach and all the helpers who support him.”

Always friendly and works flawlessly

“I’ve been with the practice for a number of years and I’ve always been very satisfied. The administration is always friendly and works flawlessly. Dr. Knoftach is a very competent doctor who is interested in his patients, recognizes interdisciplinary relationships and takes the time to clarify questions and uncertainties in an understandable way. Both personally and professionally, he is an excellent doctor.”
