Rebalance your health with the 5 best acupuncture clinics in Zurich

  • Practitioner Expertise: I reviewed each acupuncturist's credentials. I checked whether they are certified through formal training and demonstrated a strong background in traditional Chinese medicine or complementary therapies.
  • Clinic Atmosphere: I personally visited and virtually toured clinics to see the atmosphere myself. Cleanliness, comfort, and overall vibe are important factors in deciding which places feel welcoming and professional.
  • Comparing Treatments: After that, I also reviewed what each clinic actually offers. Some specialise in pain management, while others focus on stress relief, fertility, or holistic packages.
  • Location and Accessibility: I contacted clinics to inquire about their pricing. I wanted to see who explained fees upfront, offered package deals, or worked with insurance providers to make sessions more affordable.
  • Transparency of Pricing: I checked how easy it is to book and show up. Clinics with online scheduling, flexible hours, or good locations near transport hubs made this list because they fit into real life more smoothly.

Finding the right acupuncture clinic in Zurich can feel like hunting for the perfect coffee spot. Everyone has a favourite, but where do you even start? Do you trust a friend’s glowing review or go straight for the expert referral?

Like many of us, I’ve also dealt with nagging back pain and tried just about everything from stretches and therapy to random home hacks.

Eventually, curiosity (and a bit of desperation) led me toward Zurich’s wellness scene, where each acupuncture clinic brings its own unique style. So, here’s how I explored the most talked-about spots and what made them worth a visit.

How much does acupuncture in Zurich cost?

Acupuncture in Zurich costs between CHF 80 and CHF 150 per session. However, prices can vary depending on the clinic’s location, the practitioner’s experience, and the length or specialisation of the treatment.

It all started with a friend who recommended TCM Kangtai, a legally registered Swiss GMbH under the national business registry. She said their acupuncture sessions helped ease her nagging back pain in just a few visits.

Many even raved about how each acupuncture session felt personal. Instead of a standard routine, the therapists began with a Chinese medical diagnosis, lasting about 25 minutes.

A single acupuncture session costs CHF 125 and runs for about 50 minutes. For those who prefer body-based therapies, Tuina massage is available at CHF 104 per session, lasting around 40 minutes.

The clinic inspires confidence with its high medical standards. Many of the practitioners are registered with recognised Swiss complementary-medicine associations, including EMR, ASCA, and SBO-TCM. This registration provides an extra layer of professional reassurance for patients.

Additionally, the clinic’s central location makes it easy to drop in after work or between errands. But many also complained that the Saturday hours are short.

Pros

  • Registered Swiss GmbH
  • Clear pricing and session durations
  • Personalised acupuncture approach
  • Medically experienced therapist on staff
  • Therapists registered with EMR, ASCA, and SBO-TCM
  • Convenient central location

Cons

  • Has limited Saturday hours

Thorough acupuncture care that helped with long COVID

“My therapist Aihua Miao was very thorough and professional and helped us recover from long covid”

In excellent hands with a friendly team and fast results

“I feel in excellent hands at TCM kangtai! Professional treatments, a very friendly team, and noticeable improvements after a short time. Highly recommended!”

My curiosity led me to book my first visit to Tao Praxis, which was anything but ordinary. One of the first things I appreciated was their flexibility. They’re open daily from morning until late evening, making it easy to book after work without feeling rushed.

The acupuncture itself felt refreshingly different from other clinics I’ve tried. The sessions are led by Yiting Ma, a Dipl. TCM-FVS Therapeutin with a Master’s degree and over 30 years of experience.

Instead of following a standard routine, she used Taoist diagnostics, even looking at my birth details and energy flow before placing the needles. The whole session felt deeply intentional and thoughtfully structured.

What stood out more was how acupuncture was seamlessly integrated with other traditional Chinese medicine therapies. They also offer moxibustion (Moxa therapy), Qi Gong, and bodywork rooted in TCM principles.

The moxibustion adds a gentle warming effect, cupping helps release deep tension, and even light electrical stimulation is used. Qi Gong is introduced as a guided breath-and-movement practice to support circulation and energy balance.

However, the clinic’s setting isn’t particularly spa-like. The focus is on treatment over luxury, so you won’t find soft music or scented candles here.

Pros

  • Offers flexible daily hours
  • Led by a highly experienced practitioner
  • Uses Taoist diagnostics
  • Integrates multiple TCM therapies
  • Provides warming and tension-release techniques
  • Supports energy balance beyond the session
  • Enhances acupuncture with electrical stimulation

Cons

  • Clinic is not spa-like

Effective healing for stress, sleep, and burnout

“Yiting is amazing ,effective and knowledgeable. She has helped me so much. With stress and sleeping problems, my stomach and all possible burnout and depression side effects. After the first treatment I was sleeping better and feeling better but it’s not a magic solution if you need help it’s a process setting up a treatment routine and following up Yiting’s recommendations with herbs and nutrition and other tips and tricks she offers. Truly amazing healer 🌺”

Purposeful care with positive energy

“Yiting is lovely. Shes very purposeful, knows exactly what you need&treats your individual needs. Also to admire her positive energy. Definetely would recommend her.”

Sinomedica has built a reputation as the community’s favourite for acupuncture. Their medical approach immediately sets them apart, combining scientific diagnosis with traditional Chinese methods.

I like how they address more than just pain. They also focus on treatments for stress, fertility, and oncology support. And if you’re after fat loss, they even help with weight management.

On top of it all, they truly stand out with their Shou Shen program. It’s a unique combination of acupuncture and a low-carb diet. Designed specifically for those seeking more than temporary relief, it regulates hormones and metabolism.

However, the program can be somewhat demanding. It’ll require your strict focus on follow-ups, diet changes, and regular treatments, which may not suit everyone’s lifestyle.

What balances this out, though, is their strong medical team. From orthopaedic surgeons and gynaecologists to TCM experts, they combined Western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in their practice.

Plus, I like that their staff are all multilingual.

Pros

  • Medical-based approach to acupuncture
  • Unique Shou Shen program
  • Has a strong, multidisciplinary medical team
  • Employs multilingual staff

Cons

  • Strict commitment to the Shou Shen program

Skilled doctors and flexible service across locations

“I am highly satisfied with Sinomedica. I have been/am a client of both their locations in Basel and Zurich and all doctors are fantastic, special thanks to Dr. Materne, Dr. Meyer and Dr. Bagaglia! Great and efficient service, highly flexible and friendly staff and both locations are situated in the city center and well taken care of. Anyone searching highly qualified acupuncture, I highly recommend Sinomedica.”

Professional and trustworthy care with Dr Wagner

“I have been treated by Dr. Wagner several times and have been extremely satisfied every time. She is very professional, competent, and takes enough time to answer all questions clearly. Her calm and empathetic manner immediately inspires trust, and you always feel in good hands. The practice team is also friendly and well-organized. I can wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Wagner – the kind of doctor you’d want!”

I first heard about Norlindh Akupunktur as a trusted referral from my general practitioner. What sets it apart is its focus on five-element acupuncture. It’s a holistic style known for addressing stress, allergies, and women’s health.

Each session can be complemented with treatments like moxibustion, Tui Na massage, or Gua Sha. Even more valuable advice on your lifestyle and diet is part of the process.

Personally, I like the unique setting. Madeleine Norlindh runs the practice from her home, creating a warm, personal space. It’ll surely put you at ease and make you feel welcome.

Another plus? Her treatments are covered by most Swiss health insurance plans, thanks to her professional accreditation. That makes regular acupuncture here really practical in the long run.

Now, if you prefer the buzz of a big wellness centre, this home-based setting might feel a little too quiet. There’s no reception desk or spa-like vibes here. It’s really just you and Madeleine.

Pros

  • Focuses on five-element acupuncture
  • Offers complementary treatments
  • Practical lifestyle and diet advice
  • Warm and home-based setting
  • Covered by most Swiss health insurance

Cons

  • Lacks the buzz and spa-like feel

Attentive care and helpful health tips

“I am so happy to have found Madeleine. She is an excellent acupuncturist and has been a huge help for me in so many ways. She carefully listens, understands the need and is actively engaged in my well-being. Madeleine always does what is in her power to help and gives very good health tips. I would highly recommend her for your health care needs!”

Deeply knowledgeable with extraordinary skill

“The best acupuncturist ever! Madeleine is the kindest and most knowledgeable professional I’ve ever met. She took the time to understand my history and treated me accordingly. Every time I have a session with Madeleine, I feel relaxed, centered and “protected”. I cannot thank her enough for the work she is doing, Madeleine has an extraordinary capacity using acupuncture and I highly recommend her!”

If you’re like me, who sticks to what truly makes a difference, then Praxis Hwang is the kind of clinic you’ll want to return to.

I like that they’ll start you off with a free initial consultation and trial acupuncture session, which makes the first step easy.

They boast that they never treated acupuncture as a stand-alone. Their sessions are often paired with physiotherapy, osteopathy, or chiropractic care to improve mobility. It’s great for structural alignment and manual or pain therapy to reinforce the results.

Additionally, this clinic is also one of the largest family-run TCM networks in Eastern Switzerland. Coming back with several branches, including St. Gallen and Frauenfeld, makes it accessible for your visit as well.

Unfortunately, one drawback is that the clinic can feel quite busy. At times, this detracts from the calm, spa-like ambience that some of us expect with acupuncture.

Pros

  • Offers a free first consultation
  • Has a trial acupuncture session
  • Integrates acupuncture with long-term results
  • Part of a large family-run TCM network
  • Covers a wide range of complementary therapies

Cons

  • Can feel quite busy
