The 5 best electricians in Zurich for safe, reliable, and expert work

Certifications and qualifications: We only considered electricians with recognised Swiss certifications and authorisations to ensure all work meets national safety and compliance standards.

Industry experience and specialisation: We examined each electrician’s years in the field and their expertise in areas such as smart home systems, EV charger setups, and large-scale commercial wiring.

Pricing and value for money: We prioritised electricians offering transparent, competitive rates without cutting corners on quality or safety.

Service flexibility and customisation: We chose professionals who can adapt to projects of varying sizes and timelines, whether it’s a quick lamp installation or a whole-building rewiring.

Availability and location: We evaluated these electricians’ accessibility across Zurich and their ability to handle urgent or emergency jobs.

Flickering lights aren’t just spooky, but they’re the kind of warning sign your wiring throws right before things get serious. One minute it’s a harmless blink, the next you’re smelling something faintly burnt and wondering if you should’ve called someone sooner.

From quick fixes to full rewiring, the pros will sort things out faster (and way safer) than any YouTube tutorial ever could. Peace of mind is pretty much part of the deal.

And if you’re stressing about where even to start, don’t worry! We’ve already done the digging for you. If you’re dealing with the same issues, we pulled together a solid list of the best electricians in Zurich, so you don’t have to hunt around.

How much does an electrician charge in Zurich?

An electrician in Zurich typically charges between CHF 90 and CHF 135 per hour. However, the final cost depends on the complexity of the work, their certification level, and travel costs. Many also offer fixed-price packages for typical jobs.

Reich + Nievergelt AG is a household name since its founding in 1973 as a small sole proprietorship in Zürich-Enge.

They offer a range of services, including smart home integrations, EV charging, and comprehensive security systems. It’s refreshing to see a team capable of managing power cables without needing multiple contractors.

On the flip side, their scheduling can book out quickly, especially for non-urgent electrical work. Because they prioritise large installations and long-term contracts, smaller household jobs sometimes get pushed to later dates than expected.

Nonetheless, their focus on smart-home and building automation genuinely impressed us. We liked how they connect lighting, PV, and charging stations into one seamless system.

Another plus is their culture of training and long-term employees, which ensures both continuity and expertise. Personally, we felt very confident knowing that this team has over 50 years of accumulated expertise.

Pros

  • Over 50 years of experience
  • All-in-one provider for electrical and smart-home
  • Energy efficiency and building automation
  • Ongoing training for employees

Cons

  • Non-urgent jobs may have longer waiting times

Precise, reliable, and professional

“I’ve been working with Reich + Nievergelt AG for some time now and I’m always impressed. The quality of their work is consistently excellent – precise, reliable, and professional. I particularly like their extremely fast turnaround time. As soon as I hand over a project, I know I can sit back and relax because everything just works.

This company stands for trust, competence, and a smooth process. I can wholeheartedly recommend Reich + Nievergelt AG and look forward to many more successful projects with them!”

Always professional and helpful

“Reich + Nievergelt professionally completed the entire electrical installation for our apartment building in Zurich. All agreements and deadlines were reliably met. Even last-minute changes and additions were implemented quickly and efficiently. The on-site staff were always professional and helpful. I can wholeheartedly recommend Reich + Nievergelt for any electrical work.”

Elektro-Stählin has been around since 1945, starting as a family business.

Their services cover just about everything electrical, from residential and commercial installations to building automation.

Personally, the integration of photovoltaic systems and EV charging stations was a standout that makes sustainability feel really practical.

In our view, their Studio Stahlin showroom was a real surprise. Getting to see and test designer lighting before committing made the planning process both easier and more fun.

Another thing we appreciated was how approachable their staff were during energy consulting and compliance inspections. The multilingual support, including German, English, and Italian, was a huge plus, especially for Zürich’s diverse clientele.

One drawback we think needs to be noted is the labour rates. They are on the higher side, with some former clients mentioning steep charges for both apprentices and master technicians.

Pros

  • Over 80 years of presence in Zürich
  • General installations for residential and commercial
  • Photovoltaic systems and optimisation
  • Multilingual support

Cons

  • High labour rates

Dealt with all concerns quickly and professionally

“I am completely satisfied with Elektro – Stählin AG from Zurich! The advice was excellent and very competent, especially with regard to the fiber optic connection and network issues. The team was always available and dealt with all concerns quickly and professionally. The work was carried out flawlessly and I always felt well looked after. I can fully recommend Elektro – Stählin AG and will definitely use their services again if necessary! Thank you very much!”

Carefully planned and completed promptly

“Elektro Stählin AG has been carrying out repairs and installations in our building for many years. The jobs are carefully planned and completed promptly. The quality of the work is excellent. The employees are competent and friendly. They fulfill all special requests to our complete satisfaction. I highly recommend this company.”

MAX Innovation AG is a relatively new player in the electrical scene, founded in 2008 by Andreas Koch.

They operate from two locations: Zürich and Oberweningen, making it convenient for those based in Zürich city. With around 25 employees and apprentices, they’re not huge, but the size feels just right for balancing personal attention with technical depth.

What stood out was their focus on innovative solutions, such as KNX home automation and multimedia integrations. They also handle modern networking, so if you want your internet systems all tied neatly together, they’re definitely in their element.

One thing to note, though, is that their pricing leans toward the premium end. This is especially true if you’re only after a minor fix like a basic socket or light installation.

Still, what we like is how they manage projects: planning, execution, and ongoing maintenance—so you never feel like you’re passed around. And the fact that they invest in apprentice training gave us confidence that they’re building a strong future workforce.

Pros

  • Founded in 2008 by Andreas Koch
  • Around 25 employees and apprentices
  • Electrical installations for new builds
  • Building automation expertise (Smart-Home, SPS, KNX)
  • Multimedia system integration
  • End-to-end project support

Cons

  • Pricing is on the higher side for small-scale repair

Work was carried out quickly and at normal prices

“MAX Innovation AG is a reliable electrician company. We had a defect in the light switches. I had to send a photo of the switches and the installer came along with the correct replacement parts. The work was carried out quickly and at normal prices. Many thanks to the employees of MAX Innovation AG.”

Offers high-quality and professional advice

“Max Innovation is a reliable partner in electrical installations and offers high quality and professional advice.”

City Electro GmbH grew steadily while maintaining an approachable attitude. The company operates as an LLC with approximately CHF 20,000 in capital and is managed by Gramos Vata, making it feel well-grounded yet nimble.

We found their location in central Zurich handy. They keep clear opening hours. Plus, in our experience, scheduling an inspection or repair with them has been faster than with many competitors.

However, they don’t offer smart-home or KNX automation services. This limits their appeal if you’re looking to upgrade to modern and connected home systems.

On the other hand, their service is wide, from consulting and planning, as well as the installation of current systems, along with telecommunications and security setups.

Another factor that impresses is their straightforward approach. Nothing flashy, but very reliable for compliance and official electrical inspections.

Pros

  • Managed by Gramos Vata
  • Centrally located in Zurich
  • Wide range of services
  • Offers security systems
  • Project-based construction works
  • Official Swiss electrical inspections

Cons

  • No smart-home or KNX automation services

Helped with friendly and competent tips

“On Sunday we had an emergency: the stove suddenly stopped working and the power went out in half the house. Mr. Vata from City Electro was the only one who answered the phone and helped us with friendly and competent tips. He even called back again to make sure everything was working again. Price: completely free. Many many thanks!”

Work is carried out professionally and solution-oriented

“Mr. Vata’s competent and thoughtful advice is excellent. Work is carried out professionally and solution-oriented, always keeping an eye on costs. True to the principle: as much as necessary, as little as possible. I highly recommend City Electro.”

Elektrobaer is a multi-centre firm with about 145 employees across Zürich, Seebach, Glattbrugg, and Bülach. With their work in building automation, KNX/SPS systems, and ongoing service work, they demonstrate the capabilities of a full-fledged systems integrator.

We also like that they have a strong local presence, which makes them feel really accessible, while still having the scale to handle pretty big projects. The only downside is that their setup appears to be more geared toward commercial or larger-scale work.

Their full-service approach is impressive, which handles strong and weak current electrical work, as well as IT and communication setups. Having one team handle cabling and IT support felt efficient, and we found that kind of dual expertise pretty rare.

Another thing we like is their in-house workshop for switchgear and control cabinets. It showed they could customise solutions and handle everything in-house.

Their 24/7 emergency service also stood out because the response time feels genuinely reassuring for businesses or property managers who can’t afford downtime.

Pros

  • Multi-center firm
  • Full electrical installations
  • In-house workshop for switchgear/control cabinets
  • Offers home automation
  • Dual expertise in electrical and IT support
  • 24/7 emergency service

Cons

  • Geared towards large-scale work
  • Higher price for small household repairs

Gave recommendations during assessment

“I had an partial outage at home and contacted their hotline on the weekend. They gave recommendations to check whether an electrician was really necessary. In the end, turning all fuses off and on again resolved the situation without the need for an electrician. I’m really happy about the conversation with them which underlines their trustworthiness.”

Very friendly and super fast service

“They replaced a plug for me free of charge. Very friendly reception, super fast service, top-notch service! Highly recommended!”
