5 Best Mexican Restaurants in Zurich to Spice Up Your Next Meal

  • Ingredient Authenticity: We prioritised places using traditional Mexican ingredients and preparation methods. Restaurants making their own tortillas or importing essential spices ranked higher.

  • Menu Diversity: We looked for spots offering a good mix of classic street food and larger plates. Those with strong vegan or vegetarian options also gained extra points.

  • Dining Atmosphere: We considered the vibe of the restaurant, from quick counter service to relaxed sit-down dinners. Places catering well to groups or specific occasions were noted.

  • Operating Hours: Accessibility matters, so we evaluated schedules to see who caters to the lunch crowd versus late-night diners. Those with reliable daily hours stood out.

When taco cravings hit, a sad sandwich just won’t cut it. Luckily, Zurich has some tasty Mexican spots ready to bring the fiesta to your plate.

A great taco starts with a great tortilla, and La Taqueria in Kreis 4 takes that seriously. Their Swiss-made MASAMOR corn tortillas bring traditional Mexican craftsmanship straight to Zurich.

We love their commitment to fresh ingredients, from homemade guacamole to tortilla chips fried daily. Their house-made hot sauces add a fiery little kick for those who fancy some heat.

Hungry for the classics? You can dig into al pastor or carnitas tacos, or go plant-based with their vegan Planted Pastor.

The laid-back atmosphere also makes this spot ideal for a quick taco fix. With takeaway options, you can even bring the Mexican feast home when the cravings strike.

“The best tacos I’ve had in whole Switzerland”
I come here maybe once every few months with my boyfriend. And we absolutely love it. The best tacos I’ve had in whole Switzerland no joke. Amazing service, great vibes. I had my Mexican friends try it out, and they say it makes them remember home.
Love this place! You have to try it if you’re around! Apps, this is the only photo I managed to take before we inhaled our food 😂

“A hidden gem”
Wow, a hidden gem ✨ in Zurich 🇨🇭 near our hotel 🏨 (Glockenhof, see a separate review)! 😊👍

The atmosphere, the quality of the food, the service, and the location are all top-notch! It really felt like home to us, especially since we’re from San Diego, CA – the home of so much delicious authentic Mexican food.

We had a sampler salsa (3 different kinds) with chips, and then 3 mixed tacos. The fish was definitely the best of the bunch 🐟, followed by shrimp, chicken, and cauliflower. Honestly, all varieties were amazing! 👍😋

Highly recommend this place, enjoy!

“The best tacos in Zurich”
… I ordered a plate of tacos al pastor and another of birria. The quality and depth of flavour were absolutely top-tier. But what truly blew me away was the homemade corn tortillas—they are an absolute masterpiece, perfectly textured and fresh. To top it all off, they have a salsa bar where every single option is better than the last. It’s rare to find this level of authenticity and execution in Europe.
Huge congratulations to Sara and Miguel for bringing something so special to the city. These might just be the best tacos in Zurich.

“Incredible experience at El Luchador”
We had an incredible experience at El Luchador, and it is the sole reason I would return to Zürich!

To start, the staff were very friendly, accommodating and approachable.

They offered to translate the menu, explain the origins of the great selection of Mexican beers and help make decisions regarding their delicious menu.

The food arrived swiftly and looked absolutely incredible, accompanied by salsas and sauces to dress up tacos as we pleased!

We had the Birria, Tricolour and Pulpo tacos, which were all divine! …
