The 5 best recording studios in Zurich that strike a perfect chord

  • Professional Facilities and Equipment: We prioritised studios with acoustically treated rooms, industry-standard microphones, and mixing consoles to guarantee top-tier sound quality for any type of recording.
  • Experience and Portfolio: We looked for studios with a proven track record, favouring those that have worked with well-known artists or brands and can demonstrate versatility across various recording needs.
  • Pricing and Package Value: We focused on transparent pricing in CHF and flexible packages, ensuring clients get excellent value without compromising quality.
  • Producer and Engineer Expertise: We assessed the in-house team’s credentials, selecting studios with skilled sound engineers and producers who can offer creative input and technical precision throughout the process.
  • Client Experience and Support: We chose studios that provide a supportive, professional environment, from booking to final mastering, ensuring clients feel heard, guided, and comfortable during sessions.
  • Location and Accessibility: We also considered how easy it is to access each studio within Zurich, prioritising those in convenient, central locations with nearby transport or parking options.

Recording in your room sounds fun until you hear your dog barking in the background of every take. Makeshift setups can only do so much before things start sounding like a voice memo gone wrong.

That’s why a studio space is such a game-changer. Your project can go from average to impressive with proper soundproofing, high-end equipment, and audio engineers who know how to effectively utilise their tools.

But don’t worry, because whether you’re a musician or just someone chasing a creative idea, there’s a recording studio in Zurich that fits your needs.

And no, you don’t have to be famous to book one.

How much does it cost to rent a recording studio in Zurich?

Renting a recording studio in Zurich typically costs between CHF 100 and CHF 250 per hour. However, rates vary depending on the studio’s equipment, the engineer’s experience, and the included services.

Sonar Sound Studios is a top-tier option if you’re looking for reliable, artist-first production in Zurich. With over 20 years in the industry, they’ve honed a style that balances speed, precision, and creativity.

We love that their hybrid setup features analogue and digital tools. It includes industry favourites like the Neve 8801, SSL Buss Compressor, and Bricasti M7.

In addition, they offer a mic selection that includes Neumann, Schoeps, and DPA. It’s great that you get a sonic palette that works just as well for lush ballads as it does for punchy pop tracks.

One limitation to note is that they don’t offer in-house mastering. While not a dealbreaker, this introduces an extra step and potentially extra cost for those hoping to keep everything under one roof.

But pricing? They’re very competitive, with CHF 1,000 for a full day’s recording, CHF 400 per song for mixing, and CHF 75 per track for vocal editing. And take note, there are no hidden extras.

What stood out most to us, though, is their low-key support in areas such as licensing and distribution. It’s the kind of add-on we didn’t expect but really value.

Pros

  • Over 20 years of experience
  • Uses a high-end analogue-digital hybrid gear setup
  • Premium microphone collection
  • Competitive pricing
  • Bonus support for licensing and distribution

Cons

  • No in-house mastering

    Provides great support

“Philipp is also not above a wedding party with 9 women: We had the highlight of our day at Sonar Sound and our bride-to-be was able to deliver a top performance in 2 hours thanks to his great support, untrained and unprepared 🙂 Thank you again”

    Very professional and personable

“Very professional, personable and at the same time relaxed and funny! Felt very welcome and taken care of! Thank you very much Philip”

Studio 6 flips the traditional studio model into something more people-powered. As a cooperative, you can invest as little as CHF 1,000 and become part of a creative ecosystem where profits are reinvested in supporting youth culture and promoting equitable access.

Their gear setup is no joke either: top-shelf mics like the Neumann U87 and analogue classics like the Neve 1073 and Manley strips all work in acoustically tuned spaces. It’s engineered for variety, too, so if you’re doing jazz vocals or a podcast, it’s got your back.

Beyond the tech, what stood out was their genuine cultural impact. They’re not just making music; they also offer mentoring, run workshops, and help underserved creators get their work out.

However, Studio 6 isn’t that walk-in friendly. You’ll need to invest CHF 1,000 in shares to join. Their membership screening can feel selective, with criteria that extend beyond your craft. It’s a cool concept, but not ideal for casual or one-off users.

Regardless, we’re glad their location near Schaffhauserplatz keeps them rooted in Zurich’s scene.

    Pros

    • Shared ownership through a cooperative model
    • Pro-grade analogue-digital hybrid setup
    • Offers mentoring and workshops

    Cons

    • Selective membership with a CHF 1,000 buy-in required

      Very patient and professional

“My daughter created a great song and with Benii’s very patient and professional help, it became a song that really puts you in a good mood when you listen to it. It turned out so good that she will definitely release it on Spotify soon. Thanks Benii and Studio 6”

Has a good taste for modern music

“Top producer and sound engineer with a very good ear, really good taste for modern music, and many years of experience. The studio is easy to get to, with a great vibe, and quiet. Absolutely recommended.”

Powerplay Studios has been around since the ‘80s and hosted legends like Prince, Lady Gaga, and Lenny Kravitz.

In fact, the person behind it has the edge. CEO Cyrill Camenzind brings over two decades of international industry expertise, including training in Nashville and extensive experience in broadcasting.

With its SSL 4000 E/G+, Steinway B211, and Studer A800 MKII, the main room alone is a dream for anyone chasing that fat, analogue-driven sound.

We really appreciate how they combine old-school gear with a modern workflow. The Neve 8016 in Studio B, linked through the CLASP system, gives you that buttery analogue texture while staying DAW-friendly—super seamless.

During our visit, we genuinely enjoyed the full-on on-site experience. You get a proper kitchen, five bedrooms, showers, and even lake views by Greifensee. It’s the kind of setup where collaboration flows naturally between sessions.

But one thing to keep in mind: commuting from Zurich might not be ideal for everyone, especially if you’re juggling day jobs or tight meetings. Sure, it’s just 15–20 minutes out, but if you’re doing back-and-forth daily, it can get a bit tiring.

      Pros

      • Led by an expert with over 20 years of experience
      • Provides legendary gear
      • Has a full residential set-up
      • Creative lakefront setting with communal spaces
      • Hosts workshops, artist events, and studio tours

      Cons

      • Slightly out-of-the-way for daily Zurich commutes

        The studio’s atmosphere is unique

“We went on a tour of the Powerplay Studios with around 40 people as part of our company Christmas party. Everything worked out perfectly and our employees (mostly non-musicians 😉 ) were very enthusiastic! The unique atmosphere, the exciting and impressive tour (in two groups) through the studios and the really nice team made the visit a unique experience. Thanks!”

        Exclusive and extremely high-quality equipment

“Very exclusive, extremely high-quality equipment, great location with a very nice view and a cozy atmosphere. Staff super friendly, professional and very talented! Unique in Switzerland, absolutely recommended!”

Jingle Jungle is the ultimate sound playground if you’re working on high-spec multimedia or cinematic audio projects.

With over 30 years in the game, they’ve nailed the mix of legacy and modern know-how—Dolby Atmos-certified rooms, slick suites, and serious tech.

And while we admire the pro-level setup, it might feel a bit much if you’re just laying down a band demo. The focus is on post-production and Foley-heavy workflows, which are perfect for agencies or film studios, but not for indie songwriters on a budget.

The voice actor database is incredibly diverse, though, and we loved how easy it was to coordinate multi-language sessions remotely. Everything, from casting to the final mix, was streamlined, and the team knew how to make international projects feel local.

We also appreciated that the studio was built with comfort in mind. It’s spacious, filled with natural daylight, and designed with the client experience in mind. The thoughtful layout, including relaxation areas, made those longer recording days more manageable.

        Pros

        • Over 30 years of experience
        • Dolby Atmos-certified cinema mixing stage
        • Advanced voice casting and multilingual support
        • Purpose-built Foley, ADR, and sound design suites
        • Has spacious and comfortable rooms

        Cons

        • May not be suitable for basic music or demo recordings

          Very friendly and personable team

“It’s always a pleasure to work on cool projects with the amazing people at Jingle Jungle! Top-notch organization, beautiful studios in the heart of Zurich, and a very friendly and personable team!”

          Highly competent team

“I was allowed to carry out my first order at Jingle Jungle. I had a lot of fun and the highly competent team was there to help and advise me…”

          Facebook

IZSOGOOD might be one of the youngest on the scene, but you’d never guess from the way they carry themselves. Founded in 2020, the team already delivers full-service audio and visual production with the confidence of a veteran shop.

In fact, their creative ecosystem feels genuinely cohesive: recording, mastering, photography, album art, and full music video production are all under one roof. We loved the seamless handling in a single flow, without needing to jump between screens.

They also have a high-end vocal chain that gave our session a crisp, warm quality you’d expect from a major label setup.

Bonus: they’re officially a music publisher, which opened up real conversations about rights and distribution, even for indie artists.

Another thing that stood out was their flexible pricing structure. You can mix and match services, with a basic mixing fee of CHF 250 and a mastering fee of CHF 50. This makes budgeting less stressful.

On the flip side, their compact team covers everything from audio to video, which can be a drawback during busy periods. With limited staff, there’s a chance you won’t get as much personalised attention if they’re handling multiple clients at once.

          Pros

          • Young but highly professional creative team
          • Full-package audio and video production
          • High-end vocal chain with music publishing services
          • Transparent, mix-and-match pricing structure

          Cons

          • Small team may limit personalised service during busy periods

            Professional and well-equipped

“The best studio we can imagine. Professional, well equipped and top aesthetics. Whether podcasting, mixmastering, shooting. You get everything here.”

            Very professional and clean

Had our first vibe session yesterday… Really nice. Producer can respond very well to needs and wishes and gives helpful feedback. Everything kept very professional and clean. Instruments are also lying around and can be played. It was really nice and I’m looking forward to further projects together ✌🏼🤙🏼”
